Well, I only bought it 2 months ago, LOL... had to wait for the cold to break a bit before I could ride it home.  I didn't have my permit yet when it was warmer, and when I finally took the permit test we had a 4 week cold spell.

Kind of stinks that I have to go thru everything for my license again, when I moved to CT from NY 10 years or so ago my bike license didn't transfer only my car license, so here I am going thru everything again.

Riding it home yesterday was a bit messy from melting snow, but I took her easy and had a BLAST.  I forgot how much fun it was to ride... anyways, here's some pics of the bike.  I got an absolutley killer, KILLER deal on it (well, I think so anyway!)... it's a '98 with 14k in pretty good shape.

Thanks!

I've never seen an orange one before, is it factory or custom? Looks really good, except that the rusty exhaust is putting the paint to shame

Hey Thanks... I love the orange... it really sold me on the bike.  It really is a great color.  I'm going crazy today, I want to take it out for a ride but it's just to messy out!

Great looking bike!  :thumb:

I like the reflective "Suzuki" stickers on the fork legs.  Where, perchance, did you get those?  And, how much $ ?

Hang out there, we may flame, but we don't hate.

My attitude is in serious need of readjustment, and I'm ok with that.

Thanks Scratch!  Good question on the stickers, I have no idea... they were on the bike already as was the steering damper.  I'll ask the PO if he put them on and where he got them.  As for the steering damper, you know I don't think the GS really needs it.  I've only ridden the bike twice so far, I'll have to mess with the damper and see what kind of difference it makes... honestly I'll probably end up yanking it and selling it LOL...

I agree.  A damper is only needed if suspension set-up doesn't cure the problem.

Haha, I know... I'm trying to find out where I can get that pipe sandblasted around here... unless someone knows a cheaper way to get the rust off LOL...  Then I'll do the grill paint.  As far as I know it's factory for 1998 called Azteca Orange.  It really is a cool color, before I looked at it and the PO said it was orange I was a bit leery, but I fell in love when I saw it.

And Scratch, I spoke to the PO and he said the 1st owner (I'm number 3) had put them on.  He raved about them though, said they really show up well at night.

Orange... blech.  You should paint that ugly color when you do the exhaust :icon_razz:

Haha j/k (check my sig) it's a good color and there's not many around.  Every once and a while someone pops up with an orange 98 but not too often.

What I did to get the paint/rust off the exhaust is to get a wire wheel for a handheld drill and went to town on all the spots with rust and loose paint.  Not as good as sandblasting, but cheaper and you can do it on your own schedule.

+1.
Orange is the slowest color.
Paint it blue, and your bike will like triple in speed.
But some people consider that as artificial speed like artificial intelligence (you know when a blonde dyes her hair).
But yea ...
Cool.

Nevr-dul, if it's surface rust, but I don't know how deep the rust is.

Hey that's a good tip, thanks!  Not sure though, the header pipes look awfully cruddy.  Hard to tell how deep the rust goes... I guess I could always  just give it a shot.  Didn't V&H use stainless for their header pipes?  They're not supposed to rust like this are they?  I remember reading the stock ones rusted but I wasn't sure about the V&H.

And hey Susuki_jah... a fellow guitar player... COOL

You can clean the rust up with a wire brush and 'wet & dry' paper then use bar-b-q paint on it. You should be able to get it looking really for a couple of hours work and almost no money.
