I've decided to polish the lip of my wheels. it's not to hard but I have a few hints for those who want to do it.

1. Apply aircraft stripper

2. Let sit for 10min

3. Scrape with hard plastic

4. Wipe clean / check for leftover paint

5. Reapply if needed

6. Clean / polish with mothers

7. Done

It took about 3 hours or so because I keeped wiping off with a rag after each aplication "not the best way" . I did mine with tires on and used regular can of aircraft stripper instead of spray, I didn't like the thought of over spray. I would recomend tires off.

Thanks werase643 for the 4.5 wheel it is perfect.

You missed a crucial step.

1. Apply blue painters masking tape to all the places you don't want the aircraft paint stripper to eat paint from. Textured parts of the wheel are difficult to polish, so it is best to tape the spokes off at minimum. Personally, I taped off the spokes, hub, and part of the rim to where only the lips of them (the first "tier", I guess) got polished.

Some other notes:

1. I wiped my wheels down with paper towels. Seemed to work fine.
2. Aircraft paint stripper BURNS when it gets on your hands. I should have worn rubber gloves, but I was lazy.

aircraft stripper wouldn't have stopped with gloves.

Crucialval

I didn't use gloves, but I never have with chemicals "not smart but it didn't hurt.

I thought I was going to polish the whole wheel but I sampled my stock rear and the striper hardly worked on the spokes, so I got lazy. I also noticed the ruff surface would take a lot of work to polsih.

I think I'm going to polish my engine case. My plan is to leave the engine black and only polish the covers.

Has any one tried this yet?

How does it look?
