I just want to say thanks to Bob for making the ignition advancers.  Bob sent me two advancers in exchange for two stock ones.  If anyone has any stock ones just laying around - Send them to bob.

Well I have 3 GS's.  One running, one almost running (next week) and one that's going down to the frame.  And then I'll want another one.  Otherwise I would send it today.  :thumb:

Email Bob, He may just send you one and let you send yours back when you get his.  MAYBE.

Just ask him.

i still have a stock ingnition rotor, i was thinking about Moding it to make it adjustable, enought to go stock timing to just a touch more advanced then VH advancer. or combining the GS450 rotor which has advancer weights

So the stock GS450 has an centrifical advancer?  Is it a direct bolt on to the GS500?  Do you know what the timing changes are?  From what to what?  "Answers Jim, Damn it, I need answers!"

I'd like to hear more about the adjustable mod to a stock advancer.  This would be interesting.

The 450 has one very similar to the 500. For some reason I think its 180 degrees apart....Maybe wrong, maybe a different bike but there is a bike that has a 180 degrees out advancer but otherwise just like the 500.

well, the idea of an adjustable advancer would be to score a mark where the trigger tab is  on the face, then grind off the tab,  drill and tap 2 holes 180 degrees for small bolts, using a washer(centering it), cutting slots for the bolts to go through but still able to rotate the washer (when bolts are loose) and welding the trigger tab onto the washer, Line up the new trigger tab with the old score mark for stock timing and rotate forward to advance then lock down the bolts.  this Mod would be alittle tricky and would work better using a degree wheel, and dial indicator to make REAL adjustment marks. not to mention there might be a Ballencing issue as it is mounted to and turns as fast as the crank. still, would be neat.

Go for it Rashad, Bob's very cool and a fellow Cali (Not that CA people are cooler than anyone else, just cause I think so).

I got to wondering, now that the timing marks have advance 12 degrees, what happens when I need to line up the timming chain and cam marks when reassembling a top end?  I kept one stock ignition advancer just for this reason.  I figure, you time with a stock one and then replace with a "Brousard Ignition Advancer" (Registered Trade Mark Pending).

Any thoughts?
