"Dominator" dual headlight install

Can anyone say if the installation of the "Dominator" (sounds like a 14-year-old came up with this name) twin headlights (as found on Fly N Cycle) is straightforward, or if it requires some sort of bracket to be fashioned?  I see on E-bay that Aztec8 is selling a kit which appears to simply be the same headlights, but with the promise of some additional hardware.  Necessary?  Or just a way to jack the price up?  I like the setup, but don't really have the time to play machinist right now.

Thanks a lot,
Joe

The lights from Fly-N-Cycle will fit in your stock brackets. These have a H4 male plug which will plug into your stock harness without modification.

The kits from Aztec8 are great when brackets are not available for a particular for size. Not sure about the plug but I have a kit coming in the next couple of days. I needed 54mm brackets for GSXR forks and did not feel like making them.

I have the Fly-N-Cycle lights with Aztec8 brackets on my 97.

Common sense in not very common.

got mine from www.streetfighterstore.com - been saying for years.  They're in the UK, but shipping to my door was 5 business days to Ontario Canada (which is faster then it takes for me to order stuff from the US), and about $100, give or take, all in.  They're currently on the deal of the day section for £40.00, which is about 80 bucks US + shipping.  They had great customer service and couldn't be happier with them.  Metal housing, no extra brackets needed - they bolted into the stock brackets, and came with a wire harness splitter that plugged into the stock wiring, not cutting.  I can change back to stock with no issues.

whatever ones you end up with, you'll like them - good luck

I've been thinking about those for a while...  Are you using the flyscreen too?  Does it fit over the stock gauges?

I just got the kit from Aztec8. You will have to splice in a small pigtail with a plug. So cutting the stock harness is required unless you can get a male H4 plug.

I have not heard of any mention of streetfighterstore.com before.  :dunno_white:

no flyscreen, just stock gauges - fine for me even during extended rides (5+ hrs) on at hwy speeds, but I guess that's a preference thing.

Here are my old posts about streetfighterstore.com and the lights.  probably just never happened on them (the traffic can move around sometimes)  :thumb:

Anyone know if a speed triple fly screen would fit on these headlights? I really dig the speed triples headlight assembly/fairing

An update:

I got the Dominator headlights from streetfighter in England and finally went to put them on yesterday... and they don't fit.  The width is correct for the existing brackets, but the back of the headlights runs into the stock brackets and they simply won't fit in.  Not sure if Suzuki changed the headlight brackets (my bike is a 00), but in order to fit in there my brackets need to be about 3/4" longer (to extend the headlights further out from the bike).  So, it looks like I'll have to order the brackets from Aztec8 after all.  I'm sure I could find someone to make new brackets a little longer, but I doubt I'd get in for much less than the $70 Aztec8 charges.  Oh well, the lights were certainly cheaper from overseas.

Thanks everyone for their help...

hey sharpe - when you say they hit the bracket, do you mean the black turn signal brackets?  if so, it should only be by a little bit, and you could file or dremel off a bit of material from them to get the clearance.

You could also just buy some univesal headlight brackets that are a little longer. Bent bike sells them for $10 or so I think. Should be other sources for that kind of stuff too though

Yeah, they hit the black bracket, but it didn't seem like a little bit.  Of course, I put the whole thing back together so I could go to work today.  I guess I'll pull it all back apart again before I go spending money, if a little dremel work would do it.  That being said, does anyone have a source for new brackets that's cheaper than Aztec8's $70?  They're a pretty darned simple item.  Bent bikes was suggested, but I couldn't find any there.

I just flipped the mounts around. Mine is a 96. Still just hits the ignition, but it all works.

I haven't ridden it yet, waiting on parts, so I can't tell you how it goes.
