...Man I'm stupid.  I'm leaving tomorrow morning (it'll be 42*F mind you) to ride from Manhattan, Kansas to Little Rock, Arkansas.  I'm estimating around 10.5-11.5 hours each way.  The total trip is going to rack up around 1300-1400 miles.  The longest round trip I've ever done is 310.  Man I'm stupid.

Wish me luck.  The GS is all ready to go, I'm just not sure the rider is... :o

I hope you have a good trip and a safe one too! I ride a lot in Arkansas, you will love it. Watch yourself in Little Rock though.

Good luck!  Dress warm, take your time, and enjoy the scenery!

Woa, sure sounds like a decent jaunt. Remember to bring your camera :) Some of us can't ride yet and must live vicariously...

Cheers and good luck.

Yeah, it should be a lot of fun, though tiring.  I'm bringing my camera as is my friend.  I post some pictures in a week or so when I return.  Thanks for the kind words!

The motorcycle is no longer the hobby, the skill has become the hobby.

Power does not compare to skill.  What good is power without the skill to use it?

good judgement trumps good skills every time.

Ah man, I am jealous. I hear that Arkansas roads are killer to ride on.

Highway 65 From Springfield, MO takes us most of the way to Little Rock, AR is supposed to be one of the best roads in the Ozarks.  Unfortunately, I don't think we are going to get to ride it on the way there.  It will be so cold tomorrow that we are going to head South to Tulsa, OK and then East to Little Rock.  We are missing ALL of the scenery and fun riding, but we just wouldn't make it in 45 degree weather the whole way.  We are coming back on Monday and we are DEFFINATELY going to take 65 and head up through Missouri to experience some great riding and scenery.

Trust me, you will not miss a thing in AR by heading into Tulsa and then SE to Little Rock.  There are plenty of incredible roads spread throughout NW AR.  My sister lives just outside of Marshall, AR and I get pumped just thinking about the roads there when I go to visit.    My advice is to take 412 east out of Tulsa and by all means avoid dropping down to I-40.  I believe that 412 meets up with 65 in Harrison and then you could head south from there to Little Rock.  In regards to 65, it is nice and has very good scenery around it but I would say that it is far from one of the best AR roads (that is how good some other roads are around there!).

Setting out on a big motorcycle trip is one of life's really great feelings, enjoy it, be lucky and ride safe.

In Cricket the testicular guard, or Box, was introduced in 1874. The helmet was introduced in 1974. Is there a message??

Thanks for the info Cuda!  I hope we get to take 412 from Tulsa to 65, but I have a feeling by that point we'll be riding in the dark.  I'd rather stay off of poorly lit winding roads with the potential of animals.  I hit a possum while going 75 last night...and it almost didn't end well for me.  I'd like to avoid that if possible :thumb:

Thanks for the kind words, Cal.  It means a lot to me coming from one of the biggest "tourers" I know. :)
