Anywords from the wise on how to keep a tach cable from coming off.  The connector at the engine keeps coming off even after I cinch it down as tight as i can after a few miles it will work itself off than it will clatter and make noise and finally just fall off. .Its really getting annoying and im afraid i could ruin the cable...or worse the mount on the engine leading that spins.
Part 2 once i figure out how to get it to stay on, what type of grease is originally found inside it, when it first came out all kinds of grey goo came out with it.

Bumping this thread because this problem has started happening to me and I'd like to figure out what's going on.

I'd just make sure the thread surfaces are clean and use some thread locker.

PTFE tape wrapped on the threads is the easiest and cheapest way to solve the problem.

Been having the same problem, and just put a dab of blue locktite on
Twisty stuff is for me
