Progressive springs

When installing the progressive fork springs is it necesary to change the fork oil? My '01 has a little less than 1000 miles so I doubt the oil is bad right now and I havn't noticed any leaking. Also do these springs make the front end less mushy? (that's what I'm hoping) I also plan to install a katana rear shock when I can find one....

I installed progressives in my 01 and didn't change the oil. Works great. usually you want to change the oil to put in thicker oil-15W instead of 10W but you can get away with just doing the springs. If you're taking the forks apart to do springs do the 15W oil-otherwise you'll be fine with stock oil and you WILL notice a difference with the springs.

Cool, I weigh about 220 lbs. so the GS feels a little spongy in some of the corners and esspecially when using the front brake.

I am bout the same size as you and the Progressive springs will make you swear you just bought a whole new bike.  They are that good.

By the way, you don't HAVE to put spacers in with the Progressives.  The caps screw inside the forks about 3/4" and act as spacers like it suggests in the springs' documentation.  I did mine this way and it works great.
