spray wd40 around the carbs and see what happens if the rpms go down then you know there is an air leak somewhere also check to make sure the vacuum line from the frame mounted petcock is attached to the inside of the left hand carburetor and also make sure that it is connected at the frmae mounted petcock as well hope this helps

Better yet, use starting fluid.  Then you don't have WD40 all over your bike.

so this is what happened i took the tank off and found the left vent hose from the tank kinked so i fixed that didnt get the tank all the way off cause i had to replace my broken fuel line  so i went to the auto store and replaced both lines so no leaks put it back toghether and she ran good once it got to normal temp the idle rpms went up again. since i really dont have the time or patience to trouble shoot this one im going after work(wed) to ask the guy what he thinks and how much to fix it.

Hang out there, we may flame, but we don't hate.

My attitude is in serious need of readjustment, and I'm ok with that.

Unstick it.

Seriously though... look at your choke cable, does it move freely? Look at where it attaches to the carbs, is the mechanism moving when you move your choke cable?

I'm having a similar problem.  It won't idle below 3500 (except for when it's about to stall).  I took a look at where the cable attaches on the handle bar and it looks like it might be broken.  It's hard to move the choke switch - it seems to be caught on something - but only sometimes.  Kind of hard to explain.  It looks like the nut that holds the metal housing around the cable has sheared off and moves freely.  Can't seem to find it on the bike bandit schematics or I could explain better.

Any thoughts on how to replace the whole thing?  Or if that's what's needed in my little hijacked question?
