Too much oil...

Bought an '04 gs500 a few weeks back and I didn't have it insured until last weekend so I hadn't had a chance to put it through the gears until then.  I noticed that it wasn't shifting into neutral when it warmed up.  Also it was sluggish and didn't go through the gears very smoothly.  I thought this was strange so I checked these forums and saw that other riders had similar problems.

Long story short I figured the easiest thing to try first was an oil change.  So I put it up on the center stand and pulled the plug... 4 QUARTS of oil came out... And I didn't even pull the filter out.  So I put the correct amount of brand new oil back in 2600ml, fired it up and the problem was solved.  The bike is more responsive, changes gears smoothly, and drops into neutral whenever I damn well feel like it.

So, if anyone else is having trouble shifting to neutral, change your oil and be sure to put the correct amount in, it's a easy way to fix the problem   :thumb:

You heard it, Straight from the voice of Hip Hop himself.

My bike spits out oil out of the Air box when there's too much.

Mine just finds the weakest gasket to expell excess oil  :dunno_white:  but it doesn't leak a drop when the level is good  :icon_razz: :icon_razz:
