I read in my local paper a guy is selling his 05 GS500F for $5100 OBO. Is that ridiculous, or is it just me?

Yep, that is ridiculous, considering the '05 retailed at $5149.

Yeah I thought so, there was 01 Kawi ZR7 for $3000 right below it. That GS will never sell.

There's an 05 GSXR600 in town for 4200 with 2 helmets and a jacket!!!!  Hmmmmm.  tough call.

It seems to me that folks such as this one are hoping for a n00d/n00b who doesn't know the price of the bikes and hasn't done any research...and that they're desperate enough to throw down the cash w/o checking first....

He probably has a mod or two on it that he feels is worth the price. If it were me I'd say I don't care about the mods, and wouldn't pay more than 4k for sure. I got an 04 that was a year old, with some very minor damage, for just over half retail.

An '05 with low miles and in perfect shape isn't worth a dime over $3,500.

The guy's probably trying to recoupe most of the loan on the bike, which will probably not happen unless he does find a victim. On my local Craigslist someone was selling a used '06 GSXR 750 for $1000 more than a shop had them sale priced at.
