Somewhere someone posted within another thread about a full set of bars that gave you the same reach/body positioning as having actual clip-ons . They were one solid piece that's straight as it goes through the stock risers , made a 90 degree turn up on each side , then came back at an angle . I'm trying to get a little more over the tank in posture , as when i'm on the highway i end up with my chest on the tank (trying to get behind my short F15 or 16 windscreen a bit) but my forearms and wrists are bent at an odd angle when doing so . They kind of look like a squared off U with the two bar ends coming off at like a 45 degree angle ... anyone ?

I made my own bars 2 days ago. I just found a piece of straight pipe in the garage, put it on the bike, and bent them back a little on each side. They work good and I think it's as far down as your going to go with the stock risers.

I never noticed lol ... so I'm assuming you're a fan of them ? Anyone here that's had both (clip-ons AND the Clubman) and know if it's worth trying to find the clip-ons versus just buying the Clubman ? The solid bar seems much more substantial to me ...
"Holy crap , it's the Wiki" - sarcasm aside , thanks for the link as i've never looked through there much ....VERY nice compilation of info guys , this community is one of the reasons my GS is staying after I get my YZF600R later this month (that , and the sales dude only offered me a grand for trade in ... screw that lol)

I made them. In fact made and sold a 100+ of them. Common to find someone buy a GS and wonder what those are.
Now I am working on a slightly better version ... soon ... hopefully.

Any of the current style left ? You make exhaust flanges and stuff too don't ya ... I'm gonna have to move near you lol . I'll be that irritating neighbor coming over all the time asking to borrow a cup of sugar , or a cup of exhaust flanges , maybe a sprig of ignition advancer  :icon_lol:

clubmans are great if they're the right size. i got some off ebay for $23 but the center was too small. Took them today and got them cut and a 1 7/8" stainless steel spacer put in. They are MUCH better.  I'm gonna like them. agressive position, but not too bad.

What happened was back on March 30 someone posted yet ANOTHER "omg guyz what exhaustz r out dere 4 da gs500???!" thread, and needless to say I'm kinda getting tired of them (nick_villan and other newbies similar to him flooded the board with the same stuff over and over again) and so I, feeling snarky, put up the "Holy crap it's the Wiki!" comment. Since the link is in the FAQ and I put a lot of my time into putting all of the repeated information into the Wiki article, it's a quick and easy way to answer a lot of questions. A few more threads like that and I kinda turned the sarcastic jab into my thing. It makes me laugh.

Now whenever someone asks a question that can be directly answered by the Wiki, they get that response. :) No offense intended.

None taken bro , not at all . This board is actually the first place I go when getting on my comp , and the last one I check before logging off ... good people that aren't stuffy or stuck up . AND you guys have helped me take my GS from a simple "starter bike" to something i truly love , snarky comments and all  :icon_twisted: :icon_twisted: :icon_twisted:

So the Wiki is your baby ? Very VERY nice reference . I havea  buddy that works at the Harley dealership but is a huge honda fan and helps me with learning about motorcycles in general . He's sued to bigger  bikes , but is really impressed with my GS . I've given him the web addy here , because now that i've found another bike for highway riding and riding 2-up with the wifey , he wants to help me truly fix up my GS . He's starting his own little shop for Japanese bikes , and he figures that a little 500cc that outperforms the more pricey bigger bikes will be the ultimate advertisement . He asked if it'd be OK to fix it up ... I said i'd have to think about it lol . Yeah right , like i'd turn THAT down  :thumb:

Hopefully there's MUCH more to come on this story

So the Wiki is your baby ?

Lets not forget GS Twins member "sanjay" who is my own personal hero.  He is the one hosting the wiki and he's done a metric shadload of work on it.
