I had some time to kill waiting for my g/f to show....so....

Here is the mock up with the 01 tank and the 01+ race tail master.
I like it better.

Opinions?

Sweeeeeeeet.

Though it is kinda angular along the top. Maybe smooth it out? I bet that's hard.

I made the 01+ master from the 89-00 mold. They share the same seat and back. Basically I just blended it to 01+ plastics.

Yeah it does have some hard lines. I guess I could break them a little. I have to do some storage/handling repairs anyway. *sigh* more work.

Maybe the tank colors are affecting my vision, but I think I like the 01+ stuff looks better with the banana swingarm.  I think the faux cutout/vent on the tailpiece goes with the recess in the banana better than the bulge on the bulge on the 89-00 tailpiece does.  Also, I think the smoother lines of the 01+ tank match the smoother lines of the banana better....

The Antibody

Very nice, I do agree with the comments on the tail. It's just so big.

However, I won't let this affect how cool this thread and your bike building is.

Spent most of the day working on the electrical and modifying the wire harness. Added the signal wire for the tach. Had to relocate the relays and regulator to the front of the battery box, for clearance of the exhaust.

The exhaust midpipe is welded up. Still needs some more work....slit for the clamp at the slip joint after the header, upper mounting bracket at the subframe, flange for the muffler, brackets for the muffler and of course clean & paint the header. I also ground the welds at the inlet ID of the header. Before the opening was 30mm and after 32mm.

I probably would not be doing this much work if I had not had to sell my TLR and GS race bike a year or so ago. This what happens when I collect a bunch of parts and see something on ebay and think "wonder if I can make that fit".

Stopped my a previous employer to get a piece of scrap metal to make the muffler flange. Too bad I did not have the dimension I need. He said I could use their shear to nibble it close to round or have them plasma cut it later. Oh well, I will try to cut it with what I have. Large circles in metal are tough for me. I might be able to have it machined at work, but then that is a little overkill....but that is me.

Did not much on the bike this weekend. Working and tired....must be getting old. I dug out the hand control and cleaned them up. Probably work on finishing the fabrication on the exhaust tonight.

I did order Pilot Powers 120/160 and contacted a mate down under who has a hugger, at a good price too. Should be getting back to me with a shipping quote by tomorrow. All goes well, I should have it in a week or so.

I need a hugger since I am not going to be able to use the inner fender with the undertail exhaust. The shock and other stuff will get really nasty if I happen to ride in the rain.

A comment about the 01+ race tail....
It may look long but it is the same length as the stock seat and plastics combined. Being all white makes it even worse. Once I actually make a part (after making a mold) I will probably paint it so it breaks up the look of being long.

The 01+ tail looks way better than the older style IMO...  I really like it, but I agree that a little smoothing along the top would be welcome...

Even as it is, I like it.   :icon_mrgreen:  I can totally picture it Yellow, Silver, Black, and white.   :icon_mrgreen: :thumb:

Yep. Sorta know what I need to do. Here are the cliff notes of what to do from SVrider....use a gixxer speed sensor and mount 4 magnets on the rotor. Run the signal to an electronic speedo. I will be using gauges from my 02 SVS.

Got the tires mounted and balanced. Powers are great since they are already balanced but sucks that wheels are not.

The front fender paint is chipping really easy. Plus the paint lifted in one area when I sprayed the 2nd coat of clear, no idea why.
Looks like I will have to repaint it again. I have a 03 SV fender that will fit with the fabrication of 2 small brackets.

I just mounted the light to see how it will look.

Yep.... left rotor is silver and the right is black.
Dual 6-pots. 1 finger braking....no problem!

Gotta love a 160!

Here are the relocated electrics, moved for the exhaust clearance.
Also, the new upper shock mount.
