MY TURN TODAY

Got rear ended by pick-up truck yesterday afternoon.  Slowed for right turn, heard brakes, bam.  He wasn't close when I started slowing, came up on me fast.  I high sided to left and rolled a couple times.  Bike came to a stop behind me.

Not too bad.  Skinned knees, skinned left elbow, sprained right thumb, and broken left clavical.  Bone should heal in about 6 weeks.  Bike and gear hauled away, will check it out in a couple days.  Symax helmet did it's job, my head and pretty face are intact.  <G>

Purp skipped the scene.  Good witness got his license number and LEO told me he was on his way to jail before I left by ambulance for hospital.  <VBG>

Sure glad I kept the old Hondamatic.  Most serious damage is on my left side and I can ride it with my right hand.  Left arm will be  in a sling for awhile.  Should be riding again in 6 weeks or first time wife isn't looking, whichever comes first.  <G>

Sorry to hear about that, but glad your okay.

Also, very nice to hear someone saw the criminal's license plate number!

Any idea how fast he was going when he hit you? Did the guy at least try to stop or was he just out of it?

Take care.

Jared

DAMN...... Glad you're still around to tell us about it Jack.

Glad they caught the guy- My guess is he has a suspended license/ no insurance- and was probably drunk driving.....(Some variation of that).

I REALLY hope he has insurance.

Tell your lawyer to swing for the fences.

Damn.....Heal fast man.

Glad you're okay, glad they know who it is.

Out of curiousity, since I'm from the area, what parts of NE Ohio did this happen?

sleeper

Sorry about what happened, and glad that you are still in good spirit.  Take your time before riding again.  Six weeks will fly by soon enough.

It sounded the run away driver is a total jerk and drove recklessly.  Take care.

JohNLA

That is my worst fear. Having some jerk tag me from behind. :o
Glad you will heal okay, Jack.
Listen to your wife and heal good before your next ride.
This place would not be the same without you. Don't make me get all sappy, now.

Get better fast Jack. Very happy to hear they caught him. If it's any consolation, myself a veteran of two broken clav's I can speak from experience, the figure eight brace will do wonders for your posture!  ;)

Keep the brace on and buy the strongest deodorant you can find. :o

Also, sleeping upright (LaZeeBoy) for a few days is the trick for getting ZZZZ's.
No time to wash the bike

Casimir

Sorry about the spill Jack.  It good to see that you are in good spirits, I hope everything heals up quick.

I only wish you got to hit him back!  POW right in the nose!  Maybe somebody else will do it for you!   ;)
Glad to hear you are sorta ok... keep your chin up and keep smiling!  As everyone says- 6weeks will fly by.. its the first couple of days that suck the most!
And please, if you get lucky and the guy has insurance.... get all that you can!

Heal fast!

Wow! Hit and run? That's horrible. I'm glad they got the guy and that you're relatively okay. Getting hit from behind is my big fear. I hate being at the mercy of other drivers. Don't go easy on him, Jack!

Good luck on the recovery,  They should make him ride in the centerlane of a highway on a bicycle!!  :x
