Shorter side stand for lowered GS

I just lowered my girfriend's GS500E and am now having issues with the stock side stand.  I would love to chop the stand and make it shorter, but I am afraid that she will want the extra ground clearance (the center stand drags in corners two up when the bike is lowered) when she is a bit more skilled of a rider.  So are there any shorter stands out there?  If not, does anyone have a stock stand they would be willing to part with for cheap?  Little chop and weld would fix the problem. Thanks guys!
