10k and just drop the clutch!!! :o :o  Better yet try it on a gixxer :o :o  Seriously, I've found in my streetlight racing  :icon_twisted: that about 3.5-4k gives you a solid controlled takeoff :thumb: :thumb:

lol. thanks for the info. I took it to the drag strip last week, and to be honest i had only one good run and i relized i wasnt paying attention to the rmps before i took off. Hey does any one here have any advice on doing burn outs before a race in order to make your tyres stick to the ground better? i cant seem to be able to do it.
ps. my best time was a 8.24 on the 1/8 of a mile

With street tires, Nick, burnouts do not help traction.  They will only make your tires slick and greasy.  Honestly, you'll get better traction without doing a burn out.  Were you spinning the rear?

Welcome back, Nick.  We've missed you.

Burn outs are pretty easy, but I'm gonna have to agree that I don't see it helping on street tire.  Slip into into first with  and slowly let off the clutch while incresing throttle to keep it from stalling, after about 1/4 turn throttle take your weight off the bike and nudge it a little to one side to assist with losing traction.  Thats it your burning out :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

thanks turd. to be honest, i only spined my tire once and i think it was because i was letting go of the clutch to fast. Who said the gs dosent pop whelies. I was poping them at almost every time i took off (didnt mean to of corse) . thanks spcterry for the adivice. ill apply it this weekend. and ill post the new results

I wheelie all the time   it just takes a complete disregard for the consequences of your actions!! :thumb: :thumb:  I almost flipped it once a couple of weeks ago

well ... i never really payed attion eather .. i'd say ya .. about 3k-5k . you have to learn to do throttle control .. just like in a car .. you cant put the petal to the metal on take off .. most the time  all you do is spin. i'v had my gs down to a 14.4 in a 1/4 . takes practice .

**edit**
oh .. and lean over your tank put your weight over the front tire to help keep it down .. ever riden a dirtbike ?  if you have take the same concept as if you where leaving the gate . lean forward gas it and stay on it . it will go down :)

Yep, took me a while to learn that steady and smooth throttle control beats the hell out of WOT any day :thumb: :thumb:

If you want maximum take off speed, put it up to 9K and then try to get the clutch out as fast as possible, while mainting both traction and control, while feeding the throttle as well, starts are a Buddha Loves You on the track(same gig as drag racing)

With street tires, a short 4 second burnout or so will help, but if yo ugo any longer, you start loosing traction. Shouldn.t matter on the GS though, since it has no power.

Were you only doing the 1/8 or the 1/4 too?

nick_villan

just 1/8. the 1/4 mile track is to expensive, lol. i went from doing 9.25 to 8.25, im hoping to do high 7 this time
