Is there a wiring diagram for the aftermarket headlight?  If so, you should be able to figure out which wire is for what (low beam, high beam, ground, etc).  Figure that out and label the wires with a piece of masking tape or something so you don't mix them up.

Then use this diagram to figure out which wire is which inside your headlight assembly.  Once you know what's what, you should be able to connect the correct wires and have a new headlight.  i thought there was a connector inside the headlight assembly, but if yours doesn't, you'll have to cut off the connector on the aftermarket headlight and solder the wires together and cover them with heatshrink, or at least electrical tape.

Good luck!

Do a search on the dual buell headlight conversion, there is some headlight wiring info in there. I changed mine to buell light and it was super easy, I think 3 wires? I dont remember. anyway.. what kind of light did you get? post a pic if you can and list the wires that it has so we can get a better idea of what you are looking at  :thumb:

So the new light has plug on the end of the wiring? If you pull the bulb from the stock lamp, there's a plug there. If the two plugs don't match up, you might have to cut off the stock plug and find a matching plug to stick on, or cut off both plugs and use some butt connectors.

The First Pic , Is Off The Plug , There Are Two Wires From Each Indictor , And Its Got Dual Bulbs , And There Are Three Wires From Each Bulb , But The Plug Has 5 Brass Points In It,, The Second Pic Is The Headlight , Ultra Sexy!!! , I Did A Test Fit , Looks Amazing :D:D

Cool. It's got integrated signals. I'd look for a matching plug at RadioShack or Fry's. Like this but with flat connections instead of round. Then you'll need to cut the stock headlight connection and turn signal wires and connect them to the new 6 pin connector. After that can just plug that new light right on.

I do HVAC and occasionally have to change a molex plug . If you want to put another plug on it get a male AND female of whichever shape & number of pins you want . You can usually dig the pins out of your existing plug and use them in the new style plug by using a precision screwdriver to undo the catches from the wire-side of the connector (where the wires enter the plug and are soldered to the actual pins) . I hope that was clear enough lol ... i'm not sure how else to explain it  :dunno_white:

Actually though , you have the 500F , so i'f ya can't see it anyway , just solder them ... don't forget to slip the heatshrink over the wire BEFORE you solder lol - I've done this quite a few times  :o

IF this item was sold as compatible for the model year GS you own, the plugs should mate up.  IF.

Chopping and making new connectors is usually messy unless you have experience.
I've seen very few home-brew motorcycle electric modifications that were well done.
I am not implying that it will not work, it is usually the quality of the work that suffers.

A clean plug & play installation is very desirable to ensure a quick reversion to stock when considering seller a bike.

Mounting brakets, etc. will vary.

It is a nice looking assembly.  :thumb:
