Alright I just replaced the body part on the 05 GS500F (previous owner damage) and though I doubt I will fall, I would like to had some protection. What do you guys use to protect the body kit? I know there are "bars with ends" (yeah I dont know the technical word...lol) that can be mounted but seems there are so many price variations that I am afraid to by "cheap deal" and get junk that will do nothing in case of a fall. thank you for suggestions and links on products used/knowledge of good products versus bad ones.

They're knows as crash protectors (as in the above post) or more commonly as frame sliders. If you search arround or call some bike shops, I'm sure you can find some.

If you're handy, you could probally find some plastic or aluminum  in 1.5" or so diameter rods, cut them down to 3"-4" long and drill a hole down the center with a drill press and then bolt them up to your bike, that's basically all the sliders are and you can make them really cheap.

If you buy the engine gaurds for the unfaired model, you may be able to have them fit on your bike with a couple of carefully drilled holes in your fairing, not sure about this though, plus the holes you'd need to drill would kind of defeat the idea of not dammaging the fairing.
