Ok, so I did a rejet today on  my 02 gs500

Went to winners circle here in toronto, got a 20 pilot, 62.5 mid and 135 main. Put those in, pulled the restrictor on my k&N.

Just as I'm finishing everything off...I lose the tiny spring that goes between the needle and the grey plug (inside the slide/diaphragm)

It disappears somewhere on my brick patio...

What does this do and how can I replace it on the cheap/quick? I thought Id try my local hardware stores tomorrow to find and equivalent

I think you are talking about the slide return spring,It dose exactly as stated, and also keeps the needle at the bottom of the slide. I would not try to jerry-rig your carb with a spring from a hardware store, the proper Suzuki springs are cheap, you just may have to wait for shipment. You can get them at your local Suzuki dealer, and don't be afraid to by extra. :thumb: Hope that helps.
The right way is always the hardest, most expensive, and time consumming way.

Nope its not the slide return spring...the bike def wont run without that...know from experience.

Its the very small (less than an inch long) spring the sits between the needle and the cap thingy that you have to pull out with needle nose pliers to put washers on said needle.
