Ignition advancer question????

I E-mailed Bob Broussard and he E-mailed back telling me to send him my Ignition Advancer and he would take care of the modification. I then went out to the shop and tried to figure out what to send him. Question? Is the Ignition advancer the same thing the Clymer manual calls a Signal Generator? I feel like an idiot but I had no idea what a ignition advancer looks like this is my 1st GS.

Thanks, that's what I thought but thought I'd better ask to make sure.
