Down goes bike...

So I dropped my poor bike coming out of the garage this morning 

The brake lever is a little bent and theres a small hole in the crank case - right side. Should I cover this with duct tape until I get around to repairing it so no water or dirt gets in? or will this just melt onto it?

Where's the best place to order a replacement part? (preferrably in canada)

Shoudnt a GSXR crankcase cover fit if they are easier to find in your neck of the woods.....?

If you're referring to the little round cover, yes you can put duct tape on it without much worry.  Gray duct tape actually matches the gray engine paint pretty well

I usually glue a top off a tin can to it with epoxy. That is my suggestion for a better than original repair.

That's a good idea. I won't even bother ordering a replacement part in that case. I was suprised at how crappy the metal was there that a rock took a chunk out of it.

Its far better than the stock POS ...
Just get it glued up well. If it flies off, well, you're gonna have to eat soup again and get another top now dont you.
BTW, the cut off tops work better than the pop top. Better yet if you have an under the rim can opener dealio ...
Get it nice and hammered to match the curvature, they glue away with some super duper high temp epoxy.

As for painting it, should I just coat it in some high heat paint? will it stick ok?

It wont break 250 degrees if that ... regular paint might even be OK. But engine enamel will definetly work as will exhaust paint.

Yeah if it's the small round ignition cover, any of the above sugestions will work just fine. If it's the big cover, and oil comes out, you can still patch it with JB weld and a small piece of alluminum or steel. I did this on my first bike and it held up just fine, even being in constant contact with hot oil. That JB weld is good stuff
