If you've installed SM2's ..PLEASE HELP!

Okay, while installing my sm2's i ran into two things..

the throttle cable (and little ball attached to it) came out of the plastic piece of the throttle grip. there are two holes you can thread this through on the grip, which one is it??

secondly, the ends to my handlebar are supposed to screw onto the end of the handlebar, but the sm2 doesn't have threading on the inside.. what do I do?

Either one, see which one works best though, it's not too hard to get it back in there.

You need the "expansion rubber" type bar ends for the SM2s.

Are the two holes going to give me different results?

And where can I get those expanders, and how much?

The slot closer to the front of the bike will give you more delay in getting on the throttle since you have to twist it back more to pull the cable the same length.

I got my bar ends for about $10 at my local shop. Any motorcycle shop (got a cyclegear near you?) should have some.

I believe the two holes for the throttle cables are the furthest on the right of the right plastic "perch". The pull cable goes in the front hole and the slack or push cable goes to the rear...they need to line up with the throttle twisting wheel (white plastic?)

For the bar ends...you could probably make a rubber spacer yourself...

Thanks for all the replies! I just called my local cycle shop, and they do have universal bar ends.

Here's the only other thing odd I noticed. If I rotate the bar to where it's as "flat" or level as it can be, the points/tops of the bar are snugly resting against the bottom of my tach and speedo. If I rotate it to where it doesn't do that, then the grips are pointing downward, which I don't really want. Does this sound familiar?

Yeah they should be seated against your housings...otherwise...you'll get alot of fatigue

back from the dead!

Ok so like I said, the tops of my sm2's are literally pushing against my speedo and tach housings. Well I've had my speedo light, and my high beam light burn out since I've installed the bars. When I'm above 5k rpm, the speedo and tach needles are bouncing (fluctuating at 10 mph, so when I'm at 50, it'll bounce between 45 and 55) from the bars vibrations, I'm thinking the vibrations also caused my bulbs to go out.

Can someone post pics up close of their sm2's?

The only thing on mine that touches the tach housing is the fitting that comes out of the master cylinder.  The tops of the bars shouldn't be touching.
