I live in Greensboro, NC.  Couldn't tell where you live from the pictures, even though it's a nice neighborhood it seems.

Seems like you're gonna beat me to the finish, with this nice weekend we're having.  My powdercoater did a great job, but he forgot parts.  If I go back, he's probably gonna deny seeing them.  Now I've gotta get a few small parts made, like the one of the end-plates on the swing-arm.  I'm really wishing I had one of those seats laying around.  And that upswept exhaust is killing me, I've gotta do something like that.

Had it running last night!   :icon_twisted:  Video of exhaust sound to come soon!

It's getting there quickly now!  A couple of oil leaks to fix now, but no huge issues with the engine.

I am beginning to order FE rebuild parts!  I already have new seals.  I ordered an aluminium fork brace from buddha and dual headlights from ebay.  I'll order a set of sonic springs soon.  All should be in and assembled by the new year!   :icon_mrgreen:

I require a picture of the fork brace, when you have the time.  For tax purposes.

That's a pre-load adjuster. See where it says S<----->H on the nut? Don't spin the nut!!! That's "soft/hard" adjustment. If you use a screwdriver to tighten/loosen that screw in the middle it'll affect the sag of the front suspension.

You want to make sure both shocks are balanced... so tighten them up as far as they'll go and back them out evenly until you have about 10-15mm of sag in the front.

I believe the blue nut is simply the bolt that holds the pre-load apparatus in the fork. The larger silver bolt under it removes the cap and apparatus from the fork all together.

Man, that's looking good. I am envious.  I have some plans for mine, but it will be a multi-year project, I think.   I have to bring it back from the dead 'cause I need the commuter.  Plan is to have it running (at 541cc using advice in dgyver's thread). Focus starts with engine and intake / exhaust. Front and rear end changes maybe next winter. Cosmetic stuff third. Gotta keep my costs spread out or the wife gets upset.   ;)
GS500EM currently undergoing major open-heart surgery.
Coming eventually: 541cc with 78mm Wiseco pistons; K&N Lunchbox; Vance & Hines; 40 pilot / 147.5 main jets; Progressive fork springs; 15W fork oil; Katana 750 shock

VFR750FM beautifully stock.
XV750 Virago 1981 - sold
XL185s 1984 - sold

:icon_lol: It was really a rhetorical question!  I'll post a few more pics tonight.

Waiting on my custom stem to be made and it will be permanently mounted!  Gotta find a wheel and it will finally be done!
