Thanks!

I need some advise on mirrors.  I was thinking bar end mirrors but saw an SV with them a few days ago and I am not sure if I like them or not.  Any ideas?

Very cool bike! As for mirrors, I think bar end mirrors could be really cool... If you're not a fan of the round ones everyone else has, you could try some other shape... My friend with a Ducati Sport Classic has some sweet bar end mirrors. Here's a picture of a similar bike... I think they are stock mirrors on the Sport Classic:

Just a thought...

The above mirrors are called Napoleons. You can find them from $25 - $40 on ebay and other sites. just FYI, I think they look awesome.

I probably have about $600 in the front end.  That includes forks, wheel, brakes, clipons and a custom made steering stem(which cost as much as the forks themselves).  I pieced it all together from eBay, except for the stem of course.

thats more then i paid for my whole project bike...lol

sold my GS last year but I still cruise though the forum on occasion.

C-Charlie, nice work so far. Not that I had doubt in what you were doing, but it looks like it's turning out even better than what I had expected.

Looking forward to seeing a finished product.

Let me know how you would have fit the front end.  I am interested to know. :thumb:

Cosmeticcharlie - That FE has 30 top and bottom.
No bearing for the 30 ID and 47 OD your stem needs. 30 is fine for the lower. You have to turn that stock stem to 25 not advisable cos it will turn too thin or start with 1.5inch round bar stock, turn top to 25, 30 for the lower and drill the center to ~10-12mm.
Then sleeve the top triple to get the 30mm hole down to 25. Dunno if you did that, but that be the cheapest IMHO.
Cool.

I didn't want to turn the stock stem down.  Plus the stock GSXR stem was to long, that is why I had a custom stem made (and custom top bearing).  May have cost a bit more, but I think it was the best way to go about it.

The Buddha

You cannot turn that GSXR stem to 25mm. It will be too thin, but why did you have to get a custom top bearing. I'd have made a 30 lower and 25 top bearing stem in the right length. Then sleeved the top triple from 30 mm to 25 or whatever. I'd use the GS lock nuts and that top triple and a top triple nut of your choice Maybe a GS one. But that's just me.
Cool.

I kept the same dimensions as the stock GSXR stem, except made the overall length the same length as a GS stem.  I wanted to be able to use all of the GSXR hardware (lock nuts and top triple nut).
