So where are your controls?  Are you guessing the speed and rpm's?  Need input.
I don't need any gauges or headlights!   :icon_mrgreen:

It's not quite streetable yet.  Not even registered.  Soon though.

QuoteOh, and like mine, the before and after makes you want to cringe because you know how much money you spent on a $700 bike, lol.  :2guns:
HAHA!  So true.  I still don't feel like I have too much money in it.....yet!

You would laugh at me for what I have spent!!!  :technical:

That looks badass like that and probably sounds like a beast.  :thumb: Who needs a muffler.
agreed it looks badass just the way it is with the two pipes keep i would keep them that way  :thumb: ...but then again you probably would like to keep your hearing, but if it was me i would leave it like that

tt_four

What's your plan with the exhaust being that short? Is it going under the motor, or are you still mounting it normal?

Yeah...maybe just 2 nice tips and that looks badass. If the sound is too loud you can always get tips with adjustable silencers.

I don't remember, but many years used the same seat.

But, some are latch and some are pin style.  I bought a latch style and then had to get a pin type as the frame on mine was a pin style.  that year was a 2003 frame.  So if you are getting one be ready to know what latch it has.

Just an FYI - sorry to jack Charlie.

No problem.  Mine is a latch style.

So I have been focusing on the rear of the bike, trying to get everything finished.  I have an aluminium tag mount on the way.  I will also be making a cover for the space between the taillight and subframe that will cover the wiring.  I am still looking for a seat cowl.

I picked up a rear hugger from a 2003 monster M800 on ebay.  I took a chance that it would fit with a little modification.  I received it today and it stuck it on the bike.  It looks like it is going to fit pretty good, but looked a little big.  So I cut a few inches off.  I'll fit it on the bike tomorrow and get some pics.  I still think it is a little large, but I can always cut more off.

gregvhen

Is that undertail platic or sheet metal?  If its plastic did you get off a regular household item or buy a plastic sheet?

cosmiccharlie

It's plastic.  Bought a ABS plastic sheet, cut to size and rivited to the subframe.

cosmiccharlie

I did some more trimming on the hugger.  I like the shape, but I think I still need to take a few inches off in overall length.  What do you think?

O.C.D.

Looking good.  I ordered one a week ago to try it out.

How is the width on it from behind?  Does it match a 160 pretty well?  how did you end up attaching it to the swingarm?

Pics from behind and up close?

Looks good, but too tall - take some of the length off the top.

It looked a little wide before I trimmed it, but now the width looks good on the 160.  I haven't attached it to the swingarm yet, but I will be able to use the stock GS chain guard mounts.  Also use a mount on the front of the hugger.

I'll be taking a couple of inches off of it tonight.  I'll try to get some more detailed pics tomorrow.

badguy

I know it's trading mud/water/roadgrime protection for looks, but I'd shorten it so that when looking at the bike from the left, the tip of the hugger is around 11 o'clock...maybe a little past 11, but definitely not past 12.  Does that make sense?
2000 GS500

cosmiccharlie

I think I got the length right this time.  I'm going to smooth all the edges tonight and get the hardware I need to mount it and then it is on the bike for good.

Pics!

Now that I am looking at these pics, I am considering taking some more width off of it.

gregvhen

i think it looks sweet where it is. just my opinion though
