So the gs500 i bought has an electric rev counter from a yamaha on it.  The speedo works fine as its mechancial the same as the gs, however the rev counter is an electric one.  Is there any possible way i can use this electric rev counter with the gs?  reason it is on as there has been a yamaha fairing installed on the bike and the clocks are set into the front kinda (it all fits together to complete the look).

Thanks,

dgyver

Yes electric tachs can be used on any GS. Just connect the signal wire for the tach to the Black/Yellow wire that goes to the right coil. You will need to supply power and ground to it as well, if it is not already there. I have done this with several Suzuki tachs but not a Yamaha tach.
Common sense in not very common.

is that the wiring in beside the pulse generator?

thanks

No. It is the signal wire that goes to the right coil for the spark plug.

i bought a acewell, the revs are a wire that goes round the HT lead , and the speedo is a senser  , that goes near the wheel , and a magnet glued into the front wheel rim , looks good and very easy , took maybe a hour 5 mins to tune , i fine tuned it against the gs clocks , i get rpm down to the xxx1 its amazing , :D
