o-Ring vs. non o-ring chain.. cheap? dangerous??

I bought a new chain cause I'm going up to a 44t. rear sprocket.  Bought a  Tsubaki QR 520-112 ('solid Roller chain'), it says "specifically for motorcycles that came OEM with a non-oring chain".  After some searching, I've found that the GS came stock with an o-ring chain for at least some of the production years.  Will this non-o-ring chain work?  Will it wear out quickly?  Is it dangerous?...

yeah it will wear out in 3-4 yrs instead of 5-6
