Wheel spins w/ clutch in

I imagine it's impossible to diagnose remotely, but when my bike is on the center stand, and I put it in gear, the wheel spins pretty durn fast even with the clutch in.  The wheel goes much faster as I twist the throttle, much in the same way you'd expect it to react with the clutch out.

With the bike on the ground and in gear, I can roll it with the clutch in, but there's some resistance as compared to neutral.  Also when I go from Neutral to First, it lurches forward a little even with the clutch all the way in.  Not a problem if the brake is on, but annoying as it bounces the whole bike.  The bike does not start rolling if it's already in gear and I let off the brake.

How much of this is normal?  I've adjusted the clutch cable so the friction point is way out far in the lever, almost all the way at the end, to make sure I was fully squeezing past the whole friction zone. that didn't seem to make a difference.

Just bought this bike and hoping it doesn't need a new clutch.  Only 7k miles.  Thanks for your advice!

It may even spin some when it's not in gear.

On my GS...  When it's cold, the rear wheel will spin slowly in nuetral.  Then, if I put it in gear with the clutch in, it spins faster.

I'm pretty sure they all do that.

as far as the way it is set in your cluncth is only suppose to have only a little play in it ( about the width of a quarter (25 cents)) thats just a starting point everyone likes there cluncth at there on way . i like mine where i dont even have to pull it all the way in and it disingages the cluch .
