Went down... In the driveway

So I learned an important lesson on letting your guard down today. Fortunately It was on the way into my driveway.

I stopped by my buddies place to see what he was up to, He wasn't there so I called him, turned out he was at my place with his pocketbikes waiting for me, so I hopped back on the gs and zipped back to my place.  Coming into my alotment they st arted chasing me on the pocketbikes, I was too busy paying attention to them and came into my gravel driveway waaay too fast.  The bike went right out from under me.  I didn't even have time to correct it, the second I hit the gravel I was sideways.  It took me a few seconds to kill the bike (which was happily idling away on its side) because I absolutely couldn't believe I was down.

Damage report - the leg the bike landed on is just fine thanks to my boots, my other shin is a little beat up but just some bruising.  Somehow I kept the coat and helmet off the ground.  I tore off the glued-on Suzuki emblem off the right size and snapped my brake lever.  I was planning on replacing the levers anyways since they're metal painted to look like carbon fiber. So cheesey.

Anyways, Lesson learned. Never let your guard down, even 10 feet from home.  Fortunately I had the right shoes on and nothing got hurt more than enough to remind me of my stupidity for a few more days.  Pocket bikes were fun though.

anyone remember the percentage of accidents that happen within 2 mi of home? its pretty high.  :nono: over familiarity... this is how I flew through a 2-lane, 2-lightrail intersection at 45 mph when it wasnt green or yellow.  :icon_confused:

dont feel bad about the gravel. I parked the bike in my buddy's cement driveway... went to put the kickstand down(still on the bike of course) and instead of checking to make sure it was all the way down i started to get off of it.  much to my dismay the bike started to fall on my leg  because i had failed to lock the stand into place.  I ended up doing a backroll down the side of his yard will the bike mearly fell in the grass.  Couldnt get it up cause i was laughing so hard.

yeah, don't get distracted.... a mate was at a motorcycle run and pulled up to chat to some people he knew and forgot, yes forgot, to put his foot down.... over he and the bike went  :icon_rolleyes:

Yeah definitely can relate

I was on a long trip up the east coast when I stopped for gas. I was dead tired and sore, and I went to put my feet on the ground as I came to a stop next to the pump. Thanks to a large amount of gravel, my feet slipped from under me and the bike fell. I managed to jump off and save my legs from pain, but I wasnt able to save my dignity. Gravel is dangerous.

yah, I didn't mind going down so much as I was embarrassed to drop in front of ALL my friends I ride with.  I was going fast too, probably 15mph or so. Oops.  Lesson learned.

My buddy dropped his r6 on a gravel road and scratched the hell out of his plastics.  Atleast you didn't drop yours on asphalt rolling it into the garage...

I hate the look of fake carbon fiber, I did see some of the real stuff this past weekend. We went riding and a friend drove along in his lotus 7, lots of carbon fiber parts. Amazingly small, quick, and the handling was awesome. He would get on it and blow by us, it sounded amazing.
