Is this a 89'? and how do i get the seat off?

I used the chart posted in the previous thread to figure out the year and it said K=89 so i guess its a 1989?  Does that look like what is it?  Also how the heck do you get the seat off?

Use your key in the lock on the left hand side near the rear foot peg (on the chain side).

there's only one problem with that, i don't have the keys, i got this off my buddy and he can't find them since its been sitting in his barn so long. so what now?

I'm not sure if this would work, or do anything for that matter. But you could remove the rear plastic fender, the part in the wheel well. There are 5 bolts holding it in. That might give you access to the wire that locks the seat down.  :dunno_white:

Seriously though, a locksmith could do the job for you. Not cheap though. I can't think of any real non destructive way to do it otherwise. I mean, you could probably find a way to snap the cable holding the seat down but then you have to fix it...

My lock cylinder came out.  The follwoing is from a thread I replied to, and what I did!
I have not replaced the lock cylinder.  I took a piece of wire and hooked it to the latch and it comes down by the lock cylinder.  I pull on the wire and the latch releases.  Cheap and easy fix. :thumb:

Mine only has the cable that goes into the seat lock...no seat lock. I just pull it to pop the seat.

follow the cable from the seat lock on the left side and give it a tug with 2-3 fingers while putting light downward pressure...tap..pat...slap...what ever  on the seat

or just take a long screw driver and lift up on the seat. if you push at the little clip for the cable on the latch (under the seat) it'll undo the latch. or pull out the inner fender and pull the latch from below.

The clip on bars shoulda gave away the year...I think they only did that for 1 year.  I guess they could be aftermarket.  My buddy lost his trunk key for his Ford Tempo.  A long flat screwdriver, big hammer, and drive that bastard in till you can turn it.  Pretty much destroyed the whole assembly, but now he can get in his trunk.  But that bike looks pretty nice, I'd be leary of the brute force method.  Have you tried telekinesis???  Just will it off.... :icon_lol:
