Extra Peice after mod???

This weekend I went ahead and did the fenderectomy...I have to say it looks way better than stock. After I was done I parked it outside and couldn't stop looking out the window at it. So much my girlfriend told me to stop getting up and annoying her.  Anyway I have a question about a part I found on the ground after I had put the bike back together and drove it around. I did this mod in a friends garage and didn't look around before I brought the bike in but....During the fenderectomy all I removed was the rear blinkers and the fender. When I buttoned it all back up there was a rubber gasket looking ring on the ground. it was black rubber about 1/8" thick and about 3" in diameter. It looks like a round rubber gasket? Does this belong on my bike. I look at the bike all over and couldn't figure out where it would come from. I rode the bike for about an hour after finishing the mod and there were no mechanical problems. I dont think it was the bikes ring but I dont know.

Look at  your tail end body kit, there are (depending on year model,  6 < 01 or 4>01 rubber (looks like a mini-donut)
thos ehold the body kit in place, possible one got loose, look at the diagram below it is item 14...

Thanks for the pic...I was looking for some schematics to see if i could find the part. But that is not the piece. This sucker I found is about as thick as a spaghetti noodle and is about 3" in diameter. It looks like it would seal something. Also on another note...If i grab my tailight it moves very easily up and down...I tightened the screws in the front of it and in back of it and it still is real wiggly...anyone else out there ever grab the taillight and see if it wigggles.

Not sure if you even took it off, but my wild guess would be a seal for the tail light

No. I didnt touch the tailight. I only took off the fender and while it was dropped down I unscrewed the whole blinker assembly by unclipping the wires and pulled them out. I did open one blinker but it doesnt have a gasket.

Doesn't sound like anything that came from the back end.  Sounds like an oil filter o-ring, but that would be bazaar...  Could it have been hiding under the seat from a previous owner?

I bought the bike new about a month ago. Maybe there was an extra in there?

P.S. Turd I stole your fender mod idea...The pics of your bike made me do it. I pushed up those turn signals and cut every bit of fender off. I liked you idea of flipping the license plate mount upside down so it would be coevered by the license plate and nothing can be seen. I noticed that you had your plate bending a little so the top would stay on the outside of the fender. I pushed mine up under that little lip and it just barely covers the top like a vanity license cover would. I dont know if its legal though
