Need Help With Pictures Section

Just wanted to say hello and what a great site this is.  I don't own a motorcycle but I am currently developing software that insurance companies can use for the GS 500/E.  I am working on the model years 1997-2000 500 e and 2001-2002 500.  I need to look at specific sections of the engine and handlebar/odometer to compare specs for those model years.  I know there are minor changes and it helps to have  photos to distinguish what the OEM illustration is accurately.  I was wondering if any of the pictures in your database have the specific year and make attached to them?  It is near impossible to tell which bike is for what years because of the minor changes year to year(unless you already know what the changes are and look like, which I obviously don't)  Thank you for your time and being part of this awsome site.  Fred

no, not at all.  It will actually help u get more bang for your buck if heaven forbids you get into an accident.  I am creating a more accurate and detailed parts/ labor description insurance adjusters can use to pay you or the bike shop for the damages.  Thanks for your help!  It is much appreciated.

Wouldn't it help u guys out as well if all the wonderful pictures you have in the picture database section had a year/model next to it?  Or would it be useless since this bike's parts and looks are so interchangeable that it doesn't matter if a picture has 1999 GS 500 e as opposed to 2001 GS 500?

Exactly.  Paint colors are the main things that have changed through the years.  There were minor changes in 1990 and body updates in 2001 and 2004.

89-00 is all interchangeable within each other.
01 and 02 are all interchangeable within each other.
04-07 are all interchangeable within each other.
That is just for body parts though. The painted parts and seat really.
Now it gets trickier.
Motor parts all years are swappable, carbs are adaptable, electricals are adaptable I think and running gear is all swappable across all years.
There is more as I make it up.

01-02 tail, seat, & tank are interchangeable with the 04+
89-02 electricals are mostly the same (I think 89 is different)
04+ electricals are the same
I think the cams changed in 01.
All years of the wheels are interchangeable with the 89-97 Katana GSX600/750
