okay so i've seen the F to E write-up and i've seen the GS500E to dual headlights, but i haven't seen anybody go from an F model to the dual headlights/turn signal relocation... has anybody done this?  i can't figure out how to delete the step inbetween and figure it out for myself.. maybe a few too many  in high school. either way, i was wondering if anybody could give me some pointers on ditching the enormous upper fairing and hooking up some buell headlights?

btw, this is my first post, though i've been browsing for a few months now. i got my 05 F model 2 months ago and i love it. it's quick and handles great and the MPG seals the deal.

thanks in advance for any help, guys.

I dont understand . just make it into a E , remove the fairings, get some Gs Light Mounts , and the indictors go onto them , unless there aftermarket , then you need to Drill Newe Holes , Thats It

yeah but i want to put those buell headlights on, so i don't want to put the GSE headlight on first only to take it off... maybe i'm just being an idiot.. :dunno_white:

basically the question is: will the brackets for the Buell dual-headlights fit onto the GS frame without other mods?

You can buy some universal headlight mounts of of ebay or Fly N Cycle and then get some dual lights that you like and bolt them on. Fly N Ccle sells the dual 4" dominator lights and the bracketts. There are other ways to go such as the Buell and others that has been written up many times.

Once you take off your fairing, you basically have an E model without the headlight mounts.

wow! i've never heard of fly n cycle. they have some really cool stuff. looks like my boss may as well just write them my next paycheck haha

i'm probably going to just go ahead and get one of those fairing kits.. does anybody know anything about those?

I talked to the tech there just the other day and he basically said that all of their fairings are junk for streetbikes. They're fine for putting a light on a dirtbike that you don't plan on riding much at night but not much more than that. The bulbs are too dim and the plastic will melt with if you put brighter bulbs in it.

He recomended either the 7inch headlight (just like the stock GS500E) or the Dominators since they're all metal and glass and won't melt if you put bright bulbs in them.

There are some other ways to go though. I just ordered an Acerbis Cyclops (haven't gotten it yet) and it comes with straps that mount it to the forks, without needing a bracket. I think all of the Acerbis lights as well as some of the lights sold through Fly N Cycle  come with the mounting straps but most aren't DOT approved and few work well for night use.

I talked to a tech at www.motostrano-store.com and he said that he had a Cyclops on his ninja and it works great.

There are plenty of ways to go with headlights, I'd recomend looking at as many photos as you can, and talk to someone who has actually used them at night before buying one though.

yeah the 20W just doesn't seem like it would provide very much assistance in the p.m. i was thinking of getting those dominators (since i wanted the dual-headlights).. when i said "fairing" earlier, i meant "bug shield that goes above the dual headlights." those fairings seemed kind of cheap. i think i recall reading that somebody has used the dominator lights and liked them. i'll be researching the idea for at least another month or two before i drop 4 bike payments worth of money into a headlight project though

thanks for the info

Got Dominators on both of my street bikes. Bought one from FlynCycle and the other from Aztec8. I like the light from FlynCycle better....direct plug-in w/ a male H4 plug, semi-gloss black finish instead of the flat black of Aztec8. I installed a male H4 plug on the Aztec8 light.

I have been looking into make a fly screen for the dual lights. Already have a design shape figured out. It is not at the top of my project list but close....especially since I want 2 of them.
Common sense in not very common.

I have the dual buells  :thumb: If you have any questions PM me  :thumb: I dont know if the F has the mounting points on the forks but on my E I had to make brackets for the lights and attach them to the factory mounts on the GS (removing the factory brackets that bolt to the GS "Fonz" Light  :icon_mrgreen:

Shameless resurrection reply here,

has anyone tried installing 5-3/4" dual headlights on their GS's? I'm interested in the same mod as lancemclaughlin, except with the larger duals. I appreciate any help/pictures they can offer. I think I read something once about clearance issues between the forks, but I can't find that post.
