Does it matter?  just get new Mikuni jets.  Then you won't spend outrageous amounts of money for them.

You mean 1 for each carburetor?  Or do you mean Stage-1 and Stage-3?  I think the answer is yes--at least you get 2 options for main jets.   :dunno_white:

The 3-jet carbs started with the 2001, at least in the US.

My Mistake, Thanks Dude!

Or just PM Srinath for a kit with the jets, washers, and new allen screws for the float bowls.  I think he asks between $20 and $25 for the whole kit.
This is a bad ass fanny pack!!!!

drowningbird808

thanks im also getting a k&n air filter and a jardine full exhaust are there different size jets? if so wat size would need?
sorry about all the questions lol i just got the bike a week ago and its my frist :)

Yeah, just PM srinath.  He can send you the one's for before you redo your filter and exhaust and after I think he just asks like 30+shipping but I could be wrong :thumb:  hell of a lot cheaper than a dynojet and ya get allen head bolts to replace the crappy float bowl screws.  ohhh yeah and you don't have to drill your slides so it's completely reversible as long as you keep the old jets :thumb:

Yeah jet kits are a rip off.  Just get jets or do as spcterry mentions and get a kit from srinath if he has any.

is the bike alot differnt with a filter exhaust and jets or is it a waste

It depends on whether a couple of horsepower (yep, that's about all you'll get) are worth all the trouble, money, and noise to you.  I personally won't buy an exhaust.  I might eventually get a lunchbox filter if I keep my bike, if nothing else to get rid of the crappy stock airbox that is a PITA to get in and out.  I rejetted for the K&N drop-in.  It pulls pretty smoothly.  That's all I really want.  If I want more power, I'll buy a new bike.

Yeah, it's a lot different.  For one you don't have the ghey looking stock exhaust anymore    Between the un-baffled exhaust and the K&N lunchbox it makes a hell of a lot of noise :icon_twisted: Just ask my neighbors   But yeah, there is a drastic difference in power over a stock setup :thumb:
before mine dynoed just shy of 41 :o  I'll try to get it out next bike night and see where it is now :thumb: I'm thinking it'll be close to 50....maybe 46-47

Egaeus

I don't know of anyone who's gotten more than around a 10% gain with bolt-on mods.  10% of 40 is 4.  If it's worth $400 for that 4 HP, then go for it.

I paid $80 something for Dyno jet kit for my Shadow, never really got it to run properly, despite dozens of attempts.
It ran pretty good with shims under the needles and larger jets, however.
The DJ needles are supposed to cure various maladies, but I never noticed any real difference worth the money.
Jets are relatively cheap.
10% HP gain at the upper end is only 4 hp or so for GS.  You would not notice it in ordinary riding.
You might notice better response, from turning out the pilots a little.

My other beef is that DJ costs so much, supposedly due to the research they do, but they have no idea what groove or which main jet you should use.  So where did the money go?  You end up guessing.  On the Shadow, carb removal and reinstallation is a couple of hours project.  The parts they sell you are tiny.
Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups.
I live in theory- everything works there!
