Ok, im looking at buyin another GS to turn into a "Show" bike. Gonna keep the 07 as close to stock as possible. Will a 2000 year model swingarm fit a 06-06? A new friend has a 06 for 500 dollars. He dropped it so no fairings, but the rest is VERY usable. He got an 07 now and bought back his poor wreck. So Id like to build a strecthed, wide tire, custom chromed, drag style, beast. I think it make a great build post.
ALSO NEED to find springs for both the "drag" and some better performance springs for the 07. Any thoughts? Anyone? Anyone?  :cookoo:

Yes. All the years are the same.
Common sense in not very common.

Sweet, ran down the street to a buddy who custom builds chopper frames, he can extend and chrome the arm for me for  300.00. Is that a good price. He knows his stuff and has been in several mags. Ive had 2 of his old bike and never a problem.

is your swingarm is bent?

why not just salvage the pivot area and shock mount and have your buddy just build a swingarm off of that tht will accept a wider tire

heck I have a F3 5 inch rear from a parts bike....swingarm....brake assy, axle, everything
that could be cut up and grafted to a gs swingarm

Also Im gonna put on a air ride shock to lower it while parked. I got one left over from a Harley V Rod, itll need a little mod for fit.
I just got a custom bug, the urge to build something that noone has.
Since the fairings are gone, Id like to do a street fighter/dual headlight set up, polish up the frame, Custom wheels. Gonna go to work tommorrow and make some new heel guards outta stainless. So now the project starts, im gonna go pic up the victim, or should I patient?

But the GS is a big, popular bike in Europe.  'Specially up north...Netherlands.  Where is Jim Knopf from? http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=9730.msg362435#msg362435

You've got a fair point there RB, why do something different as a show bike when every one knows that only Hayabusa's & R1's can be used for show bikes.  :thumb:

:flipoff: F them all if they laugh!!! Im building the bike for me. Who gives a Busas rear if anyone likes it. I can get any magazine an build a "custom" R1 or Busa. Look at all the custom work Ill be doing or have done in order to build it. So which one would really be a custom show bike, which one would really show creativity. Why the hell would I want a cook cutter bike, if I wanted that Id drive a Harley

Good luck on your bike project and keep us posted, I'm interested in seeing how it turns out.

Around here the only people that laugh at 500's are the people that don't ride.  I've seen many Ex's and GS's at bike nights.
Pilot 22.5, Mid 65 , Mains 147.5, Mixture screw 3.5 turns out

Even if the voices aren't real they have some good ideas.

nastynate6695

Yea dont worry about what everyone else thinks....If you build it they will come....  :icon_mrgreen:
As far as down here around the beach  the new riders thnk its funny.  Until i either out turn them or they drop their bike   then im the one laughing  :flipoff:  The older riders here know its about the ride not the bike.

Jim , The Green Gs Is Amazing, The paint on it is incredable  , Looks so .. mhmmm , i prefer it over 8 ball , what is the rear off? and is there any other bits eg the wheels , as it looks like a gsxr 750 USD front end , by the fender anyways ,

Amazing Job!
