Better footrests?

Are there any substitute footrests that look fairly normal on a GS but put your foot down a little lower?  I mean there's no need for the dumb rubber pillows that prop your foot way up there.  Those of us who are tall and tend to sit way back on the seat find that the shift lever and the rear brake lever are a bit too low.  I'd prefer to get a set of rider and pillion footrests that match, if possible, b/c I think it'd look better ...

Are these just a standard/universal part?

try cbr passenger pegs on the front of the gs:

almost any peg will do with a bit of grinding to the back and sides of where it goes into bracket (liek the cbr above was done).

these are smaller on top-meaning the bottoms are same place as stock but since they're so much thinner your foot sits about 1/2"-3/4" lower. make sure to readjust yoru brake lever for the new location.

Many thanks.  Do they also work for the pillion?  (Seems to me it would look bad to have different pegs front and rear.)  Also, how do the rears work?  Are they spring-loaded 'r' somethin'?  I wonder why the GS uses such non-standard mounting ... doing a web search, I see it's the one bike that most of the aftermarket pegs don't fit!

I don't know about you, but my feet are long-enough that my left heel rubs the centerstand sometimes... man, what a buzz   .  When it bothers me, I turn my feet a bit.  I had assumed that the reason I don't feel that vibration through my (stock) pegs was because of those "dumb rubber pillows".  But since I've never tried the CBR or similar all-metal pegs, I don't know.  And regardless, they sure do look sharp.

I got a question to add (not trying to jack the post), My foot brushes the centerstand as well. So... if the other pegs are lower, wouldnt they be lower or at least AS LOW as the centerstand... .thereby making you constantly step on the centerstand everytime you ride???  Wouldnt that/doesnt that annoy you?

That's certainly true Rashad, never thought of it.  That may be half a reason to just lose the centerstand, and resort to a paddock stand when you need to get the rear wheel up!
