I recently rejetted my stock 2006 gs500f to 20/62.5/142.5 with a lunchbox and stock exhaust. Everything was ok for a little bit, but once the bike got warm, it started to malfunction...I think I may be running lean because Ive noticed that the RPM's hang once I let off of the throttle (pulling in the clutch helps so I dont think its the throttle cable).

I also have other lean symptoms like a rough start out with bogging/coughing/sputtering, which goes on all the way through the rpm range. The mixture screws are 3.5 turns out and the needles have two 3mm washers. Also, the bike runs REALLY hot, which further supports my lean theory.

The choke and throttle cables are all routed correctly, and the carb boots are tight with no leaks (did the wd-40 spray test and found no jumping rpms, just a steady idle). The mixture screws are pretty far out, and the needles are shimmed, so maybe I need to go up on the pilot size? Can anyone offer any suggestions on this?

Also, as wrecent mentioned, has anyone with 04+ carbs noticed the lack of o-rings under the diaphragm covers?

Check to make sure you didn't tear or pinch one of the diaphragms inside the carbs.

Hang out there, we may flame, but we don't hate.

My attitude is in serious need of readjustment, and I'm ok with that.
