Yeah, crap... I was just about to go out for a ride but we have severe thunder storm warnings

I do love my GS... but my next bike will be a monster if I truly have my choice.  I can't even tell you how freaking much fun I had test driving that 620.  I wish I had a clip of the pipes... it was the best sounding bike I have ever heard...

yeah, i know about the gt1000, I guess I'm kinda lookin out for myself a little, I dont need a little supersport that'll run 140 in 4th, I'm to retarded for that.  I need something a little more relaxed and less powerful.

whats your impression of them though, seeing as you work around em now :icon_mrgreen:

Alpha, The 620 is listed at 63 HP and the 695 is at 73 HP, stock respectively granted this is measured at the crank, but I think that still drops it down only a couple of HP when measured ath the rear wheel.

Expect about a 10-15% drop from crank to wheel, depending on the bike. So the 620 would have about 55HP at the wheel and the 695 will have about 65HP.

695 - 695cc 73 listed HP (air cooled)
S2R 800 - 803cc 77 listed HP (air cooled)
S2R 1000 - 992cc 95 listed HP (air cooled)
S4R Testastretta 998cc 130 listed HP (Liquid cooled)
S4Rs Testastretta 998cc 130 listed HP (Liquid cooled)

The 695 is using a new engine. Air cooled, two-valves per cylinder. Very simple, Cheap(er) to get serviced.
The S2R (the 800) is using the old Monster 800 engine. Pretty reliable as far as Ducatis go, as most of their air-cooled two-valvers are.
The S2R1000 is using the 1000DS engine, which is also used in the Sport Classic line, as well as the SuperSport 1000 and the older Multistrada 1000 (which was replaced by the MTS1100).
The S4R used to use the 998 engine, but now has since been replaced by the 999 engine (the base model's 998cc Testastretta).
The S4Rs is an S4R Testastretta with a full Ohlins setup and better brakes. Oh, and the option for a bitchin' pearl white paint with a red stripe.

Try listening to a 998 with a full Termignoni system and an open clutch basket. You get to hear the clang clang clang of the dry clutch and the thrumming roar of the liquid cooled L-twin. It's amazing.

Compared to what? The GT1000 is like a bigger GS with better suspension and a more comfortable seat. The seat is cushy, wide, and supportive, and the seating position is similar to the GS's (stock). It has chrome spoke rims that get dirty really easily, as well as a chrome exhaust (or at least shiny silver) that also gets dirty easily. The engine is proven and used in a number of bikes and is noted for its reliability (as most air-cooled Ducati engines are). It's a fairly mildly geared bike, nothing radical, but not geared towards constant touring either. I found it very easy to flat foot, even with the wide seat (but I'm also 5'10 and can flat foot my DRZ with both feet). It's a pretty bike, no doubt, and you get the Ducati name.

Have you looked at the Multistrada 1100?

Wow... just wow...

Cool Alpha... You know, though... I have to believe that the 620 with Termi's, ECU and open airbox is running more than 55 HP, into the mid 60's.  It didn't feel far off(If at all) from an '00 SV650 I rode a few days ago....  My buddies old Hawk GT was running about 50 HP and felt like a dog compared to this bike... I'm telling you I couldn't believe the ballz on this thing, especially after riding the 695.  I thought sure it would be way less powerful.

Dammit, I wish I had the cash.  I'd be driving out of there with it tomorrow, LOL...

Possibly. According to Ducati, an S4R with a full exhaust, ECU, and open airbox will add at most 10HP (or ~8%). That is a pretty impressive gain for a simple mod like that. Also consider that gain is on a 4-valve-per-cylinder liquid cooled liter bike. The 620, with it's smaller and lower tech engine, will not get that sort of bump I don't think. Now, I'm not saying it's not possible, but in my experience I don't think it would be that big of a bump in power.

According to MCN, 54.3 RWHP and 36.5 lb-ft of torque. Only .7 HP off my estimate. I rock! :) Wet weight of 424lbs.

Dammit. Just bid on this...

Bid way low of course so I'll never win, but on the freak chance my $3500 bid gets it I'd be a happy man. Fighting the urge to bid more. So purdy...

Haha, yeah I saw that one... good on ya bro... good luck!  That is one clean bike.  My next bike WILL be a Ducati... there is just no way around it... LOL.  I have been bitten BIG time.  I can't even believe how much fun those bikes were to ride... I never felt the same thrill on any of the other bikes I've tested... including the SV650.  Can't quite put my finger on it...

I don't see how that's possible... that number has to be low.  54 HP?  That must be on a seriously out of tune bike...  I know for a fact that the Hawk I rode was at about 52 HP from dyno runs, and the 620 I rode was WAAAYYYY more powerful than that bike.  Granted I'm sure the mods pushed it way up, but how much more?  It can't add THAT much...

There is also an article in Cycleworld?  maybe... forget where I read it but the stock 620 was faster in the 1/4 mile than the stock 695... granted I'm sure that has mostly to do with gearing... but that 620 is one hell of a fun engine...

Dang it, you guys are making me want to win that bike. NADA is $4200 average retail, KBB is $4700 retail. Comes with hard cases... Past auctions are hard to tell, similar 02's seem to go anywhere from $4000 to $4800. Only 2000 miles on this one though...
