quit killin my dreams!
Well then what about putting a smaller engine in that weighs about the same? a 600 or so?  And what do you mean about the front suspension... you didn't emphasise... is it too loose for more power?  I can always stiffen/loosen it....

Well I meant general rinning gear to handle the added heft and weight.
I also was talking hayabusa...Now a 600 motor will weight just about as much as the GS's lump but it will be wider a little and have more weight in front beinig canted more forward and having a radiator. So your weight will be near the same but bias will be more to the front. You will need wider wheels for the back for sure and a GSXR USD suspension in front to be able to take the bike back to where it will be rideable but again the thing will be just driveable, not a sharp handling out brake everything stoppie machine. If you find the right 600 and made all the upgrades to the GS frame and swingarm (GSXR swingarm cos the wheel also needs to be right) you probably wont start breaking chassis parts unless you push it hard. There was some racers on the mailing list that used to say ~65 hp is all the stock frame can take before it starts to bend and flex. 600 Repli racers make 100hp+ so you need to upgrade a lot of stuff. Why dont you get one of those radians and start chopping it. I belive it will look less ugly in the end. Now a 600 super sport frame and running gear are up to the task and they handle beautifully. they also have lighter frames than the GS and the end bike you build will be heavier than those. If you must have a naked try to get a R6 or somehting and take its fairing off and see if that can live wiht a naked look. Cheaper and more effective with fewer problems.

A Honda XR650R engine (the newer water cooled one) would be a great engine: lighter than the GS engine by more than 40 lbs., 60 hp with just the unrestrictor kit, and smaller than the GS engine too.

But if I could find a XR engine, I wouldn't waste it in the GS chassis. A 250 GP bike frame and the 650 single would be awesome!

Maybe drop a 350 small block in your GS. It takes well to mods and turbos...

I at one time wanted to put in an RZ350 motor in the GS. But then again I hat work and complicated crap. That dont preven me from thinking about fitting it in but I hate doing it. Any way lighter is the way to go and the 60hp sounds good and being a narrow motoe we just use the stock GS rear wheel and fron end unless we do want to upgrade. The RS 250's around here are not street legal. There is nowhere else to ride for me. The GS chassis is the only thing I'd put it in. But that's just me.
