Thank you for posting your view, I have read it and appreciate your efforts to help others.  Please, I hope you will continue.

Posters need to remember that when asking for opinions, they are opening up to criticism, but also you gotta understand that this is the internet and to not take other poster's responses too seriously.  Like water off a duck's back, you gotta let things roll off of ya; not take things so personally.  That person doesn't know you personally, and you don't know them; the intentions, or message, of posts can be muddied by typing too fast and/or of leaving out/off words.  Actually taking the time to read, and comprehend, other's posts would help, too.

there is a definite trend here that hurts this board and keeps it in it's current crippled form.
This board has doubled (perhaps tripled) in size in the past couple of years. It has its trends (such as more fights as the weather worsens and folks can't ride). GSTwin might be a bit of a dysfunctional family now and then, but I think it's about as far from crippled as it could be.

I've never been more frustrated trying to do something benevolent than when I post on here (not to say that all my posts are on the level, I f%$k up too, get upset and lost my head, no doubt.).  Threads get locked, shaZam! gets thrown out of whack and there's no explanation.
If someone doesn't want your advice, move on. Someone else's disagreement or refusal of advice offered isn't a personal affront or an insult. As you yourself have stated, the GSTwin bunch are pretty smart; I doubt there's a thread that's been locked that folks don't recognize why it was locked, though I'm sure there are a few who--sometimes vehemently--disagree with with a thread being locked and/or the reasons behind it.

2.  The Moderators do a sub par job, I understand that you have other shaZam! to do, but you volunteered for this position.  You can't start building a house for Habitat for Humanity and say mid way through "f%$k it, I'm tired, sleep outside, I'm out".  If you're going to bother locking a thread, explain why, don't just tie it off.  All that runs us into are situations where the aforementioned frustrations are left without any source to vent to; that's when people just up and quit the board and who does that benefit?  By you "doing your job" and locking threads and killing debates, you're killing the board.
While I appreciate the comparison to H. for H., we're birds of a different feather. While it would be just ducky if mods could devote 24/7 to watching the board, we absolutely do have lives, and we don't give up those lives when we're invited to volunteer countless hours of our time on an online motorcycle forum. I'm very sorry that you're unhappy SmartDrug, but I'm not exactly sure I'm understanding where all your frustrations and where all of your anger is coming from. The mods do an outstanding job of keeping things running, and my personal opinion is that members leaving or getting fed up has more to do with problem members and tirades than it has to do with any of our fine moderators (myself excluded, of course, because everyone loves to hate on purple  :flipoff: ).

I'd compare GSTwins to a crowded bar where you get all sorts of people, inevitably fights and arguments will start but instead of letting them work out their differences like gentlemen or ladies, they're separated and the patrons leave upset and eventually, after it has happened enough, just stop coming to that bar. Alright, tirade over, thoughts opinions, rebuttal, etc.
This isn't a bad comparison. GSTwin *is* rather like an internet neighorhood bar. We get all sorts, and we rarely all agree on anything at the same time. But there's also a lot of support, and I rarely see a n00b's question not answered within a day. In fact, every day, members go out of their way to look up answers that they might not know, and then they share how they searched and the answers they got. Every community has natural attrition: people get out of riding, they move to different bikes, they get busy with jobs, girlfriends/boyfriends, school, and riding. Some get clean and sober....  I've met folks IRL from GSTwin who'll go MANY extra miles to lend a hand or bail a pal out of trouble. I've made some true friends here. The GSTwin I see is very different from the one you see, SmartDrug, and that truly sucks. I'd love for you to be able to see it as I do, but we're all different, and we all bring different perspectives to the table.

GSTwin isn't perfect (no place can be), but it's a place I enjoy spending time in, learning from others, and sharing my own n00b experiences with new riders.  Plus, I just LOVE this bike, and I just LOVE the majority of the GSTwin members. There are some who rub me the wrong way, just as I do them...and anyone else who's human....  Yeah....one big, happy, dysfunctional family...  :kiss3:

Unfortunatly there is no standard operating procedure on being a mod & how to handle different situations, so I apologise for not meeting your standards, but I do apreciate your criticism & have taken it on board & filed it away for future reference when needed.
