Carb help..not GS related

I have a poulan chainsaw that is running like crap. Once it gets hot it will not idle without full choke on, and then it will only run on full throttle. I understand that on a chainsaw there is only an idle jet and the mains. I assume the mains is fine because it runs good and hard on full throttle, but I think it is lean without the choke. Any suggestions...does this sound right or do I have it backwards.
