i guess this is due for an update...
i found the mac muffles, they are actually too small...

i finished the main painting all gloss black, tank rear and front
i have the rear torn down for some repairs, matte black painting and putting on some new parts...

i wont paint the rear wheel till i get a new tire and chain then ill do it all at once.
probably wont paint the front wheel untill i get a new rim and tire also...
and i want to wait on the front of the frame painting untill i get a k&n filter to replace the stock box,
i have the guages windsheild and headlight off for now as i need parts still for the guages and headlight adjuster, and also the rubber parts for the gas tank...

i did some reading, since im not much of a tuner. and it seems my bike runs really crappy when cold and at low rpm, so as far as i can tell that should mean its running lean, and the new filter will make that even worse if im correct... so being that i will stay with stock exuast and a k&n i thin i will need to re-jet the carbs, i really have no clue what to buy so any help would be apretiated, i dont have a problem doing the work i just dont know what it has now and what it needs, im not sure how lean it is, but it only seems to be under 3k rpm and gets way better when warm,

also it seems to run the bowls dry when the fuel valve is on the on position so im assuming the vacum portion is bad, since it works fine when on prime...

anyway thats about it,,, waiting for parts and or help as of right now,

congrats on the progress my florida friend.... :thumb:  as far as jetting goes just get the needles and washers that are recomended on the wikki.   i went all squiddy when i first bought mine and ended up with a dyno jet kit  ( let the critizim begin)  which costs to much and requiires you to drill out holes for it.

what is it just new needles on the floats or somthing? do you have a link to the "wiki" you are refering to?

yea i know, im slacking on pics but its still in peices and now i have the seat on it (to move it around) and no cable or key deal to release it, so ill have to figure that out soon too,

after this round of parts i should only need to adjust some things, get a rear tire atleast, and a chain. then itll be ready for a ride, ill get a new front wheel/tire when i find a deal on a bare wheel, and i gotta get some oil since i got the filter from bikebandit too.
oh yea and the fuel chicken, valve, thing, dunno,

i sold that savage and got my firt bike again, a shadow 600. this time a bit older neding some tinkering. any pics when added will be updated on my site xdreamz.com under "bike pics"

yea you just have to switch out the needles and then fiddle with the washers...http://cgi.stanford.edu/~sanjayd/gs500/Main/HomePage.....this is the link to the wikki  save it to your favorites. it will come in handy down the line

while im thinking about it here is a link to pablos page also      http://pantablo500.tripod.com/index.html    information on both has helped me out.    just take some time ot look around before you start asking questions.    Alot of the newbies (myself when i first joined)  asked a lot of questions  that could have been easily answered if they had just glanced through both of these sites.  ( i got critized for asking stupid questions after a couple times of that you start keeping your mouth shut and doing some more searching. On;y then when i run out of stuff to look for do i open my mouth...but somehow still manage to insert my foot from time to time.)   If you need anything else feel free to hit me up... :thumb:
