I found a post on here about doing this but i am a little unclear about the part that i need. in the post is said that i need a trailer hitch converter, but when i went to the parts store and described to them what the post said they just kinda looked at me weird and said that they didnt have anything like that. now it also said that i could use a relay but i dont really know what kind of relay i need. basically i was wondering if anyone has integrated there turn signals into there brake/taillights and if so could you explain to me how you did it? i have been trying to do this for quite some time now but i just couldnt get it figured out.

I would use four diodes and some extera wire.

Connect two wires to your brake light wire with a diode on each. Use a doide in each side blinker + prior to the brake light wire. Run both right side diodes together with the + from the blimker. repeat with the left. That sould work out fine and cost less than $5.

If you not sure how to do this, you can buy a kit comes with instructions and all the parts needed from www.clearalternatives.com

12v from Radio Shack, tell them what you are doing and they normally know what you need.

the problem with that was when i went in there last night and asked for it, there was two women working and neither one new what a diode did or was used for all they knew was where they were located in their store. i got on radio shacks website and all i could find was ones that said shaZam! about amps. i believe that i bought two that were 1.6 amps. Im tring to do the dual headlight setup also and the post i found on here said to use a diode for that also so thats why i bought those.

Ok that sucks the one around me always has inteligent people working. I'll look to check but I think I used 1.6-1.7 when I did my turn signals so they should be about the same. just so you know the side with the "k or line" goes to the light on each wire. I think I try it some time this week and let you know the outcome.

solosociety

i think the ones i got have a line going down the center and then an arrow in the middle of it.

I use a standard Hoppy trailer converter kit and a Tridon EL-12 electronic variable load relay. The relay makes it blink at the same rate no matter how many or what type bulbs are used.
I have done it this on several bikes with excellent results.
Common sense in not very common.

I got the specific trailer convertor from amazon.com for like $12 shipped.

alright well i guess i will try it when i can get some more diode's. the trailer hitch thing just sounded so easy. so i take it i have to sodder the diodes in place?

ok so does this trailer connector just have three wires going in one end and two coming out the other or is it two seperate ones that have to be hooked together after wiring them up. cause when you guys are talking about the hitch convertor all i can picture in my head is the ones that have four wires going to a plug on my truck then four wires and plug on my trailer that i just plug into each other

Seriously, I know a kid that just got hired there and he doesn't know anything about anything. He even said that the guys who were suipposed to train him just went in the back and screwed around their whole shift.

Just started a new thread about the dual-headlight wiring thing... which is different than LED signals...

Anyway, as I understand the diode solution to the dual-headlight problem, the high-beam switch contacts that normally would be handling... I forget, 60 or 65 watts... are suddenly handling 110. There's extra load on the ignition switch, too, which, being keyed, is very expensive to replace.

Really, for that, I'd just use an inexpensive automotive relay. There's more than one way to wire it up, it's not rocket science.

This is what the one I use looks like. 5 wires in and 4 wires out.

i just figured out the dual headlight thing and i am most likely going to use the diodes on my tail/turn signals also. that shaZam! was real easy and the turn signals shoudl be the same
