I think he was talking about shifting while wheelie-ing.. not positive though.

Hang out there, we may flame, but we don't hate.

My attitude is in serious need of readjustment, and I'm ok with that.

I think you're right, my bad.  The offer still stands,  who wants to add a 300 shot of nitrous to their GS and win a Daytona?

great, so I'll have a bike to ride home, after I get out of the hospital? (Cuz a 300 shot of nitrous would blow one, if not both of the pistons straight through my testicles.. )

Something like that.  I doubt the clutch on a GS could handle that kind of load, that's a lot of stress for an aircooled 30-45 horsepower engine.  Maybe it'd be safer to turbo the bike first and then use a smaller shot of nitrous, that way you not only have the pistons flying at you, but also the turbine from the turbo getting shot into the engine while spinning at 40k rpms.

yes i was talking about already being in a wheelie . i just get so tired of ppl saying its bad for the bike . i'v had mine almost 2 years now and i have not seen any bad results .. i do understand that if you keep it up to long that it will do some damage because it will have no oil to pull to the pistions . but i'v ran all the way through 2nd gear a few times and have never had a problem

Yes ,GS is no stunt bike, look :

It all comes down to practice and skill ,GS is capable
Yes it's easier on more powerful bikes but so is landing on your behind :icon_razz:

Me too, never had an issue, I think what they are referring to with oil starvation is when you find the balance point and ride the wheelie for 5 miles.  V twins are particularly prone to this on the front cylinder, not really an issue though.

Open invitation to ANYONE with a GS500e/f with stock gearing or up to -1/+3, if you can do a wheelie in 3rd gear, clutch up or power wheelie, I will GIVE you my Daytona 955i.  Ride/drive up to Chicago, and from 3rd gear with both wheels on the ground, you can lift the front end, I will sign over my title.  It's not going to happen, you'll have a VERY difficult time clutching up a 3rd gear wheelie on an '07 CBR600RR, no way in hell are you pulling it off in a GS.

What Constitutes a wheelie?? one inch off?  6 inches?  For a 955i i might find a way to git it to do that.  :icon_twisted:

i put my new sprocket on the rear (6 up) and with one foot on the rear peg and the other covering the rear brake i pulled a wheelie in 3rd. actually i wouldnt call it a wheelie per say. the front wheel came up maybe an inch then planted right back down. so maybe with a little bit more power it might be possible but with a stock gs its definatly going to be really hard to do.

OK so i guess there is alot going on here...talk about a squid etc..i dunno what that means...
- Mississauga...i have seen a couple of them, at the beaches etc.

- So anyways back to my question, wheelies, im still lost...anyways thanks for your inputs guys/gals. I guess i just need to tighten up my axel/ chain, and head for a couple more nights of high reving, clutch popping wheelies!! whoot whoot..

by the by, my bike is at the dealerhsip now getting the awfully expensive "first" service done...adjusting valves etc...So we will see if it makes a difference.

A Squid is a typical sports bike rider , like a Squid , they go very fast in straights , but cant corner , they also ussually wear very little protection if any , like * soft body like a Squid*

I'm surprised you could pull it off to be honest, you probably don't want to do that too often, your clutch is taking a beating it wasn't really designed for.

Wheelies kick ass!
