I've crashed in short cuff leather gloves before. They didn't come off and my hands were fine. The leather is important though, as is having a glove that actually fits.

I crashed in my A* octanes which are an all leather short cuff, they didn't come off and protected my hands nicely. I also wrecked my fiddy with cheap Thor dirtbike gloves that weren't leather...the gravel ate through them and I got some nasty rash on my palms..

I'm just saying, the only wreck I've seen where the rider had short cuff gloves on the gloves came undone. Not one glove but buth gloves went flying. Personally I prefer a full Gauntlet glove over the sleeve of my jacket. Starting an argument was not my intent :icon_mrgreen:
Why didn't you just go the whole way and buy me a f@#king Kawasaki you bastards.

I'm not arguing, were those the snap kind or velcro? What brand? Thats kind of like comparing Joe Rocket crap to Vanson...the quality and sizing could have had a lot to do with it.. that was what I was trying to say with my post..

No. Send them back. That will not protect your hand in a fall.

See this thread for proof: http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=20659.0

Trust me, you will want something a lot more substantial on your hands.

Ok, the gloves in that link seem about the same style as I have DOH.

What's a good hot weather glove that can protect and doesn't cost a fortune?

I was thinking about these guys: http://www.webbikeworld.com/motorcycle-gloves/racer-supply/rsc2-gloves.htm

But they still look pretty warm to me...

Personally, I love my Alpinestars Octane S-Moto gloves. I also recommend the A* SP-S gloves. Those are the only two I've had personal experience with that I liked well enough to recommend. For long cuff gloves, if that's what you really want, check out Kobe race gloves. Fully perforated leather, armor, and good quality to boot. The guys on the FZ1 board love 'em.

If you dont mind outrageous these are a good deal if large is a proper fit.

Unfortunately I wear a medium glove so this closeout does me no good.

I really would not buy a "summer" glove.

The guy who bit it in front of me was doing somewhere between 90 and 100, was not paying attention, ran off, lowsided slammed into a cliff wall at a 45 degree impact angle dropped down into a 2 foot deep rock strewn trench between the road and cliff face and popped back out and tumbled for 100 to 150 feet down the shoulder of the road. He was wearing the short cuff version of the Icon bling glove they came off about halfway through his tumble/slide. I don't remember how the short cuff version fastens. A friend of mine went down about 130 or so with the long cuff version of this glove and it held together incredibly well.

As tough as these pics are to look at, they should be required viewing for all riders. Thanks for sharing them.

I gotta get new gloves ... my dirt bike ones "look" cool and they breathe and all , but DAMN , that @#$% looks painful ... I need my hands for work and play hehe (don't be dirty ... my wife takes care of my "needs" just fine)

I play guitar in a band (as well as sing) and my bandmates all freaked when I got a bike . My drummer's cousin lost most of the meat off of his right calf from a senior citizen turning left into his path while on his GSXR1000 he had just bought , now at 35ish he walks with a cane and will forever . Our original bass player was trying to pass a car on a winding road and got killed by a tractor-trailer .
I get razzed occasionally by my HD brother and his B.A.C.A. (Bikers Against Child Abuse) buddies for wearing my jacket and jeans & gloves ... they tell me it's not gonna help if i get hit , but getting hit is only one form of accident . I always tell them if they're really against child abuse , they'd think about their own children and how they'll be supported when Dad/Mom can't work due to injuries , or god forbid ( they may be A-holes , but nonetheless god forbid) they die and their child ends up in an abusive foster home like the kids they work with .

Your myspace link needs to be a hotlink from the mainpage  :o
