Go the the courthouse and ask for the specifics about the readout you were given for your ticket.  If I am correct then you were not speeding at all, even according to the ticket.  specifically, what exactly is the measure of the distance you were clocked over.

Thanks Nate..

Is that a good idea? To go to the magistrate before my court date and get them to answer questions?

It would be great to have them explain to me exactly what is stated on the ticket, But... I know that some small local govt places would get irritated by the fact that I would even try to fight this ticket.

Any input about the fact that they tacked on a $40 fee that they are NOT allowed to charge a MC by law? That law was passed in 1992 so its not new...

I would go to the Police Station for an explanation of the ticket.  Court clerks can be really pissy :icon_confused:  As far as that extra fee:  They'll remove it, but don't expect any extra leverage because of that error :dunno_white:  I'd challenge the ticket primarily because VASCAR is an antiquated method and shouldn't be used if he has other means.  Was the cop in a marked patrol car with a radar or laser??

Yeah police might be better but i have always gone to the court house and asked nicely.  They have never gotten pissy with me,  just let them know that you are not sure what this ticket is saying and have them explain the units (ft or miles/seconds or minutes) just to be sure.  Then you can simply do the math yourself.  I am pretty sure that yours was a goof though.  keep us posed.

PS: you don't have to tell them your intentions of fighting or pre-paying, just ask what it all means.
