i think there is more then enough categories, adding more would just confuse people on where to post

here are some ideas im "borrowing" from another forum, and changing to suit GStwin

* introduction/meet forum - this is a forum for new users to say hello, also a forum for member to plan meet-ups and group rides or events in your area.

* general - general talk about the gs.

* accesories/gear- talk about your GS accesories, bolt on items, write reviews of items that work well or dont work so well on the gs.

* racers paddock- here racers can talk about race mods, tuning, and dicuss riding techniques on a GS, as well as local tracks, and racing club info.

* the open highway- here is where the iron butts can talk about windscreens, saddlebags, and what roads are most scenic. let us know about that awesome restaurant you found in that small town out of the way...

* How To, Q & A- this is an area for general tech help, as well as a place to post your write up of a custom mod you' ve done.

*safety/ new rider - here is where experianced riders can help new riders with advice for night riding, what to do if you caught in heavy rain or fog. how to deal with insane drivers. what helmets and gear are safest to wear, etc. information about new riders classes, and so on.

* video's and pics - self explanitory.

* chat/off-topic - wanna chat with your gs buddies about news sports and weather? share a favorite joke,

* classifieds - buy sell trade items here.

lol, max...to an extent i agree with you, too. theres two sides to it.

if your looking for *specific* info, its best to use the search feature.

on the other hand say you have a gs just for racing...you might want to just browse through a GS racing category for info or ideas, things you would never think to search for..

my $0.02 would be a comprimise. add a few more sections, but not over-do it. then make the search box like REALLY big, so more people will see it and be reminded to use it.

I don't drop in 50 times a day, and yet I am constantly going through pages in this forum looking through the info. It is neverending, and I think for that very reason, more sub forums should be made to properly categorize all the info.

This site has come a long way since I first signed up (Some for the good, and a lot for the bad) but the site traffic is up, so an update to the forums themselves are in order.

No new software - get the mods working and get them to create some new categories.
I don't think it's neccesary to ask "what specific" forums are needed. The mods should already know. The question should be whether or not it should be categorized better or not. Period.

Just like what was already mentioned, all you need to do is look at other bike sites to see what forum categories get the hits in the website, and which ones do not.

If the mods don't get into making sub forums, you'll be saying the "Use the SEARCH button, you F*^%ing noob!" more often than if not.

So call up your local moderator/site admin and tell them your opinion.

As few people are on this board, it will just break up the discussion to the point where nobody visits half the categories and they wither away and die. 

If you want specific information, Search, NOOB!   Google works better than the forum search feature in general.  Just type what you're looking for, and then site:gstwins.com.

what if you are looking for something you dont know what is ... like I just want browse for take new ideas from other people !! its ease to just enter to the category you want to browse !! instead of read 1000 pages finding new stuff for you ,, new ideas ,,

finally !!!!! I found the searchbox !!! its in china.. and why not put the forums main buttons little more close I have to scroll rigth to see them !!

Where you can change your profile, there is a section 'look & layout preferences'. You can change the layout from there. 

Hopefully this will appease you for the time being.

I say leave it alone , why try and change something and try  and make it better? look what happened when they gave the Gs500 fairings.... Tisk Tisk . Didnt work did it 

I love looking at all different posts and finding ones i havent seen before , I like the fact one post might be about A 555cc engine race engine , and another about why a Bulbs not workin

We have a thread for that in General, and the Meet&Greet can be used for that.

Most racers are technical enough to search using the specific term that they are looking for.

If you really think about your subject matter, you will find that fits very well under the few forums that we do have.

John wanted it simple, we're keeping it simple, this is a website about the GS, for the GS.  He really didn't want that much more.  The problem may be that a bunch of people want to post non-related diatribe.

Adding fairings to the GS increased the sales in the US.  And every other country gets the E option if you don't want an F.

As much as I sometimes argue with the mods, I think that's a bit disrespectful. The mods don't get paid to do this. Half of them don't even own GS'. They do it in their spare time, out of a passion for the bike, and this community. Your words make it sound like you expect something from them, like they OWE you something.. Not so my friend, not so at all.

maybe a paint/bodywork sub category because of just the questions of how to convert e -> f  or f ->e constantly.  that way the pictures of everybodys ride could be in there as a sticky and we could actually get some ideas from that. 

off topic where its more than likely going to be links from all kinds of other bike sites but cool stuff nevertheless.
