the headers have two bolts a #7 and one hex.  i got both 7s off but the hex is defying all logic.  i have wd40 it over and over and even split two sockets i was using for leverage.  any ideas how to get these damn things out?  i do not have a compressor.

find a steal bar, hollow, and pry harder.  If they break you needed new ones anyway and you will have to use an easy out on them.

try spaying PB blaster on them. you can get a can of it at a auto parts store. its 50 times stronger than wd40

Yea, I've found that WD-40 isn't really all that great at breaking bolts loose.

PB Blaster is very good.  Surprisingly, tobasco sauce is very effective too if you don't feel like running to the store!

solosociety

tobasco sauce????? i dont think i have ever heard of that. i have been building muddin trucks since i got my license and we always used pb blaster but i think i just might try the tobasco sauce sometime

Smack the head of the bolt with a hammer it jars the rust or buildup lose around the bolt. Put a wrench on the bolt put some pressure on then smack as you turn it.

On the bright side, you break it off (dont laugh, happens all the time) ... its no biggie when the motor is out, you drill and get it out. You strip it and it sits there ... you're screwed.
Cool.

 Yep.  I used it free up some bolts on my car's exhaust.  I put a bunch of it around the bolts, let it sit for 10-15 minutes and it actually worked extremely well.  Be sure it's tobasco and not something like Frank's Red Hot.

solosociety

when we lift all the old trucks we spray the pb on the suspension bolts once a day for a week and then they come off with a 3/8 drive ratchet. i am kind of excited to get home and try the tobasco sauce thing. if it works im gonna do infront of people and see amazment on there faces

There's this stuff called ACF50 that's even better than pb blaster but its ~$15 a can.  You can get it at most aviation/pilot supply shops.

Heat the bolt with a gas-torch till its dull red, let it cool and repeat three or four times, then try and crack it. DONT assume an easy-out will save you if the head shears, if the bolt is in tight enough to shear the head off it its MORE than tight enough to shear an easy-out  and if that happens you really are in DEEP S***......dont believe the hype, 9 times out of 10 easy-outs are a waste of time and money

Nope, I never got it out. The one that I did get out I upgraded to a grade 8 bolt, whichever is the strongest, and road with it for a month or so and never had any trouble. I sold it and told the new owner about it and to check it every oil change. Those things are a MOFO.
