His smoking doesn't make him any worse at his job. If anything it makes him better. If you had to deal with bickering teachers and 1000+ kid all day, you would smoke to. He is a grown man living his live. His smoking didn't hurt anyone. I don't smoke but I know it should legal for adults.

I agree that weed is not much of a "bad" drug but for a person who is in a position of power and a role model, its a bad choice 

I dont think anyone would care if their garbage man was puffin a splif when he drops your can in the truck, but a principal of a school

ok...I'm a teacher and not that it makes my opinion any more important, but I don't think weed or alcohol affects your performance at your job unless you are smoking or drinking right before, during, or after where kids can see you.  If you are in the privacy of your on home and it's the weekend, then I don't think it's a problem.  no, no one should be driving around, hanging out with kids or anything like that smoking or drinking.  Anyone in the school systems of NC that has a CDL (bus license) has to be randomly tested.  I definately agree with it, but if it's someone that's not high at the time or driving kids around then I don't see the problem with it.  Just my $.02

It's nothing about your ability to 'keep it together' on the job. It's about the _kind_ of person that has 3 DUI's, a weapons charge or two, battery charges on his/her spouse  etc.

All the things you do every day define your character. Should someone that can handle only doing a line of crystal meth on the weekend be allowed to fly commercial airliners ?

Or the guy that just needs a pick me up before a 8 hour surgery ?

Can them, can them all. If someone can't keep themselves clean, they don't deserve to drive busses, teach children (holy smokes), operate, etc.

ohgood- that was well said..but if what I do on the weekends doesn't affect my performance at work then why can't I do it?  Now, after saying that- there are laws, I'm not saying anyone should be allowed to break laws on the weekends or anytime.  I know plenty of people that deal with the public, not necessarily teachers, that do some not so good things, but they do their JOB exceptionally.     but everyone has their own opinions, and I respect everyone's.

He undoubtedly made a poor choice, but not one he should lose his job for. It's just pot, I'm sure a substantial proportion of America smokes pot or has in the past.
