I don't smoke pot because it is illegal but I have smoked pot. I would if it was not illegal so this is stupid. Obviously much like alchy, kids shouldn't do it period. No one should technically cuz its illegal but honestly it shouldn't be and this guy should be left alone. How many teachers do you think are hitting the red wine heavily on a regular basis? Its not illegal  but they wouldn't  do it ON the job but, for example if they were camping at 10:10pm in the middle of the woods relaxing. My argument is flawed but you get the idea.

i would love to burn a joint with that principal. anyone who has a problem with this person should really watch the film "grass", which is about the history of marijuana laws. there is no valid reason why weed is illegal but beer is legal.

chris, interesting post. my opinion is mixed. if he was on school property, whether children saw it or not, then he should be punished. BUT if he chose to ahem toke up  on his own time place or whatnot, then i say well wtf, meh no harm , no foul. weird opinion, Eh?

this reminds me, of a bible verse in Genesis

" I give you all herb bearing seed. to you it shall be for meat"
perhaps he was a believer, and took that verse verbatim.
who knows. and yes i am a former pot smoker. 1 year and six months sober from it

Well the way I see it.If I go out and Get a Job just about anywhere I'm going to have to go thru with a Wizz Test to be Checked for Drug use.Pot,Pills it doesn't matter.I'm either not going to get that Job or Get Fired if they find something in a Random Drug test. Why Should Teachers be Any Different than Anyone else. :dunno_white:

I had a Teacher in High School that was an Old Hippie. He was so Burned out that while he was Teaching some one would raise their Hand to Ask a Question. Then they would Ask Him to Roll them up a Joint. After this He Wouldn't teach all he would talk about was Smoking some Good Stuff for Oh I guess 1 1/2 Hrs. out of a 2 Hour Class.

Teacher, principals, assistants, cafeteria workers, anyone in the school system that has a bus drivers license does have to be drug tested.  In NC lots of schools tell beginning teachers or someone just being hired that they will need to get a bus license in order to be hired....I guess that's how they are trying to get to random test teachers.

Unless they Started within the Past 10 Years the Bus Drivers Don't Have to be Drug tested in this County at least.I could be Wrong. :dunno_white: I remember my Second Bus Driver when I started in the 2nd Grade. He took us for More tours in the Ditches than any of the Other ones.  He Farmed with my Uncle a long time Ago and He said that He Killed a 1/5th of Scotch Everyday.

Not surprising. I had MANY teachers who would go for "walks" on their lunch break to smoke up.

I always dreamed that my generation (the boomers) would end the senseless prohibition on marijuana.  Instead, we kept it going and made the fines stiffer.  We have so much extra money that we just want to throw it away on jail time for pot smokers. :cookoo: :cookoo:

Will some of you youngsters PLEASE vote reasonable people into office who will repeal the insanity that is our current drug policy?

I don't smoke (anything, I have asthma), but I think people should be able to smoke pot, just like they drink a beer after work.  Driving under the influence is already illegal and should remain so, but people should have the freedom to ingest what they want if they don't harm anyone else.  It's supposed to be a free country, right?!?

In my opinion whether or not the Principal loses his job should depend entirely on the school's drug use policy.  Would a janitor be fired if he / she were arrested for drugs?  If so, then so should the pricipal.  If not, neither should he.

Crucialval

^ I do agree they should hive everyone the same treatment. Noone should loose their job over it.

thing is, if i got caught smoking pot in a park, i would go to jail, but he's a principal so he doesn't? that doesn't make any sense.

this is f*cked up, this principal should lose his job and all benefits he has earned. but no, they decided to keep him on!   :bs:

He's not smoking the pot on the job.  If he comes to work stoned, fine, fire him.  And, BTW, just legalize the stuff already.  It's not more harmful than alcohol or tobacco used in moderation, and police/courts shouldn't have to waste taxpayers' money enforcing bans on pot.  Concentrate on violent crime and drugs that really ARE harmful (like meth or refined cocaine).

BTW- if you're ever on a jury for a pot possession case not involving minors, please learn the meaning of the term "jury nullification."

Depending where you are -- in NY state you'd end up with a ticket and $100 fine for possession of small amounts (though the NYC cops have become harder on pot smokers since Rudy-boy's reign).
