i was reading some posts here and another forum and they were saying that it is illegal to not have the reflectors on the front and rear of your bike. has anyone ever heard of this? i took mine off within the first week that i bought my bike and i have been ridding since 02 without them and i havent ever been pulled over for not running them or even had someone say anything to me about not having them.

When I bought my bike one of the front reflectors was missing.  So I took the other one off and brought it in to get the MA state inspection.  I passed with no problem.  I do have the rear reflectors on though.

I did some research online about the inspection requirements and reflectors were not listed.  So, it depends on the state and probably where you go too.

In Australia it is law to have tail marker reflectors, and front side indicator reflectors or a light visible from side on.

I added 4 rear reflectors to my bike plus some orange rear side reflectors for increases visibility.

In NY, I can't pass a bike unless it hastwo front turn signals, two rear turn signals, one light designated to a break, one license plate light, high/low beams plus running light and one reflector on the back.  Front amber reflectors are optional but I'd guess that some states require them so ever bikes got em from the line.  This doesn't mean that some inspectors just don't care...
